long time friends // fluff

Start from the beginning

"Uh hey?" the blonde boy says, his hair much longer and curlier than I remember it being the last time I saw him.

"Oh my god," I smile, "hey Vin."

"Hey," he reaches in for a hug, his cologne smelling amazing.

He'd gotten a bit taller and more muscular since the last I had seen him as well, but I already kind of figured that from Tiktok. He'd become quite the star.

And damn, he was even hotter than I remember.

"It's between what," he pauses to think, "maybe a year?"

"Well, yea it's not my fault you left after high school to be some Instagram star," I laugh, earning one back from him as well.

"You look even more beautiful than I remember," he brushes a strand of my hair behind my ear, making my cheeks go crimson red.

"I see you've become quite the charmer," I bite my lip at his compliment, "you look amazing too."

He laughs, thanking me, scanning the room before looking back over to me.

"So what you been up to?" he smiles, pointing to the stool beside me, to which I nod, letting him know it's available.

"Uh nothing much," I take a sip of my third drink now, "just college and stuff."

"Right, right," he nods, "you're in your first year?"

"Yea, almost about to be done," I smile, and he nods in return.

"Looks like you're almost done with your drink too," he laughs, "what's that?"

"Rum and coke," I slide it over, offering him some. He declines but thanks me, and that's when I remember he's not the biggest fan of drinking, he'd never been. He's still the same old Vin.

I'd known Vinnie since the start of high school, but we were never the best of friends. Not that we hated or disliked each other, we were just more acquaintances than friends. Of course, we had gotten to know each other quite a bit from being lab partners and having a lot of classes together, but it was really nothing more than that.

He was that boy that every girl had a crush on, but he really didn't date anyone. And me on the other hand, I was just there to do school.

"Hey, how's your friend Molly?" he perks up, "I remember she came to Seattle for like a year?"

"Yea she came senior year," I smile at him remembering her, "she's in Europe with her dad. She does online courses."

He nods, understandingly.

"And you? What's your uh, major?"

"Computer Science," I laugh, knowing the reaction that my answer will probably be amusing. There's a one hundred percent chance he'll laugh and call me a nerd. Just wait for it.

"Shit really?" his eyes widen, "Sav that's sick!"

Okay so ... did not expect that.

"Uh yea, I kind of want to be a programmer in the future," I smile, genuinely happy that he didn't find me weird like others in the past had.

When Olivia who's a fashion design major and Jenna who's an art major are your two closest friends, you become really insecure about saying you're a freaking computer science major. Partly because people don't even understand what it is, and they just assume it's for geeks.

"Yea my uncle's a data scientist always admired him." he smiles, before asking the bartender quickly for a soda before she disappeared to another customer.
