The Fall

Chapter 1

This is my last year at high school, my parents has pressured me all this time into studying and getting good grades for this final moment. To get high marks so that I could get a scholarship for a good university and ensure a good future, into becoming a doctor or a lawyer. Little did I know that not everything was going to go according to plan.

This year we had a new student that recently just transferred to our class, weeks has passed by very fast and I noticed that Austin was very popular among the school. Apparently, he was the son of the richest man in Wellspring, so naturally everyone wanted to become his friend. As for me, I paid no attention to such things. I had been studying and preparing myself for the SAT's.

Today something unusual happened. Classes had finished but I was stopped from leaving the classroom.

"Arthur, can you please stay for a while? There is a parent who will like to speak with you." Said my teacher.

"Sure." I replied.

Therefore, I sat back in my chair and took out a novel to continue my reading. Half an hour has passed and it was starting to get late, so I started to put back my things to go back home, since my parents will start getting worried why I haven't got back yet.

When I was about to leave, a tall and handsome man opened the door.

"Sorry for being late, I was hold back for some work. I hope you can forgive me for my tardiness. My name is Broderick, nice to meet you" The man said with a very apologetic face

I recognized his face; he was the CEO of Block Inc. the greatest construction company in all Wellspring. He is the reason how our little town has grown so much over the past year.

I quickly snapped out from my thoughts and asked, "Where you the man who wants to speak with me?"

"Yes, in fact I have a favor to ask. I have done some research and I see that you are a very bright student. So o wanted to ask you if you could tutor my son."

"Wow, I'm not quite sure if I'm qualified to teach Austin."

"So you know my son already? That will save time for any explanation, but why are you not sure? Of course I will be paying for your service."

"Well I don't exactly know Austin, he is just my classmate, but I will have to talk with my parents first."

"Sure!, no problem. Here is my card for you if you consider into accepting my request." He exited with a bright smile.

"Well this was unexpected."

I will see why Austin dad will want to hire a tutor, since his grades have been dropping lately and sometimes he will skip classes, but I couldn't think for a reason why a student.
