There was once a girl who smiles ever so brightly. She love her reflection. Her name is Erfie. She treasures her big mirror and stares at it all day. Whenever she sees it, her day would be complete. However, a lot of people were envious of her big mirror. Not a lot of people can see their reflection brightly so they wanted to steal it.
Erfie knew of this and travelled to different places in order to avoid these people. As she grew up, she has been to a lot of lands, bringing her mirror with her. And she felt complete, or so she thought.
Brooke point- it was the name of the town she last stayed at. But she stayed in this town for too long that the people had already learn about her mirror and were already plotting to steal it. The girl hurriedly picked up the mirror and ran away, just in time before the people barged into her house. They chased her down the forest.
As the girl can't find a way to escape, she heard a sound. "Erfie."
She looked behind only to see a black gem stone - an obsidian. She asked,"Who are you? How do you know my name?"
"My name is Black. I have watched you glow in front of that mirror ever since you've had it. I admired your beauty and bright smile. But you ran away even before I could introduce myself. So here I followed you and still admire your bravery in protecting your mirror", he smiled genuinely. "I can protect you, Erfie. Trust me."
And trust, she did as she hid behind Black when he let brightness shine upon him emitting a black light, blinding the people who were chasing Erfie.
Since then, Black has always been with her. They fell in love and fell hard. Black loved her brightness whilst Erfie loved his darkness. They completed each other - the opposite of one another. Her complete life turned out to be more complete as Black showed up in her life.
One day, Erfie went to gather some food. When she came back at their house, she couldn't find Black.
"Where could he be?", she wondered. "Ah, he must be taking a stroll. I should check my reflection for today as I haven't done it yet."
So she hurriedly went to the room to bring out her mirror. But she stood shaking by the door as she stared at her mirror on the floor. It was broken, pieces scattered everywhere. It was like someone stabbed the mirror at the middle.
She took steps closer and as she came nearer, the more anxious she got. There on the middle of the mirror, was a black gem stone all too familiar for her - an obsidian. It was a part of Black and she cried harder upon the thought. Black broked her mirror, intentionally.
"Breaking this is like breaking me, why would he do this?"
"Was it something I said? Was it something I did?"
"Did I made him upset?"
"Doesn't he love me anymore?"
"How could he hurt me like this?"
"Why?"
There were a million questions in Erfie's head. It took her quite some time to stop crying and fix her mirror.
She stood up and gathered all her courage to pick up the pieces one by one. But as she saw the obsidian again, she realized Black left her for good. And he did harm her unlike his promises of love. She found herself crying once more.
But she wiped her tears and tried again. This time, she picked up a large broken piece. She hurt herself in the process, the edges of it were sharp causing blood to flow from her fingers. And she found herself crying once more.
She bandaged her wounds and taped the pieces as one. But it couldn't hold the mirror together. Besides, it wasn't complete cause the little pieces were nowhere to be found. The little pieces that matter the most to build up the mirror can't be found anymore. So, she cried once more.
Erfie realized she can't bring the mirror back so she ran, trying to escape her sad reality. It was hard continuing life, she couldn't smile. She misses Black and she wants to be happy.
At last, she arrived at the last place she wanted to go to. It was a beach. She wanted to drown herself to be free of the misery. She stood on the great rock and closed her eyes as the wind hit her face.
And when she looked down, a tear escaped her eye. It was her reflection. It was her face and body that stayed with her through the good and bad times. It was the treasure she missed all along. It wasn't the mirror that she loved seeing- it was just her, the person she will stay with forever.
And after a long time of crying, she smiled brightly again. Her smile that everyone envied. They thought the mirror made her shine brightly, but no - it was just her. It was just Erfie with or without the mirror.
So, she dived unto the sea.
When her head sprung out from the waves, she saw a familiar black light- her obsidian.
"Do you regret it?", she asked.
Black smiled at her and shook his head. "At first, I didn't want to break the mirror. I was happy with your smile behind it. But you depended on it too much, and I was beginning to depend on it too- on how I look at that mirror. My black light showed me that I was ugly. The more I looked at that mirror, the bigger the possibility that I was gonna break it. I went away and found the water and saw that I was beautiful. I just had a different light under that limited space the mirror was offering. I wanted you to see that too. That it wasn't about the mirror all along - the beauty comes from you. You needed that brokenness in order to realize your value. So I don't regret it."
Erfie stayed silent.
And after a long time, she dived down again.
"Black can't possibly break the ocean, should I give him a chance? But I'm still healing from scars he gave. I don't even know if I would ever heal"
Who knows if she drowned herself or if she chose forgiveness?
