The phone awakened with a mighty ring
and the news took me by surprise
It brought pain to my heart,
it made my mother cry.

The run down house appeared depressed
as I sat there thinking;
Death is a deep sleep, it's just a very long nap.
You close your eyes at night and for a while,
you bid farewell to the world.

You're not completely gone, just in a trance.
and soon you'll wake in another world
where you'll glance down at us with a smile
as bright as the sun.
It's not goodbye forever
Someday I'll be where you are.

I don't know when, don't ask me how.
I'd like to look a little more
at such a curious Earth.
And when my time is up, I'll come straight to where you are
Tell you my stories
The adventures I've had, as well as the ones to come
We'll be together once again,
Wherever you are.
