"You're going to prom?" I asked. "That sounds so fun."

"Prom." He nodded, a smile forming on his face. "You never had one, homeschool I forgot."

"Never had one. Always wanted one." 

"Hm." 

"Who's the lucky girl who gets the superhot date?" I teasingly said. 

"I don't have one." Vinnie answered. "Just the bros."

"Oh, the bros." I laughed. 

"Hey, come here." He said. I moved closer to him and he placed his hand under my chin. 

"Yes?" 

"Thank you for this." He said to me.

"Of course." I nodded. "You deserve it." He rested his forehead against mine, closing his eyes. I took his hand in mine kissing his fingers. I felt the warmth rising in my chest and I held his hand against my cheek.

"Do you think things will be the same between us after the fight?" He asked.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Will we still hang out?" 

"We're gonna be friends, yeah. You're welcome to come to the gym anytime. Our friendship doesn't end when the fight does." I said. "Where is this coming from?"

"Nowhere." He shook his head. 

An entire box of capri suns, a hot makeout sesh and a ridiculous amount of bubbles later, Vinnie and I got out of the bathtub and got dressed before going out to the back patio to lay on the daybed so we could look at the stars. You could actually see the stars here considering we were miles away from any cities that could contribute light pollution so it was nice to actually see something other than smog. 

I was laying in between Vinnie's legs, my back against his chest and his arms were wrapped around my shoulders. Our bodies fit almost perfectly together and I had never been more comfortable. 

"Have you ever been in love?" Vinnie asked me.

"Maybe once. He turned out to be a total douche." I said. "Have you?"

"Maybe once." He answered. "I've had girlfriends yeah. But that's all they were, you know? I never felt like a super intense connection. Tell me about yours." 

"I thought he was so sweet and caring. He did so much for me and I found out that not only did he cheat on me, he really only dated me because he wanted to get with Liliana." I said. "Being cheated on sucks. Kinda messes with your self image." 

"Damn, I'm sorry Sari." He sighed.

"It's all good. I know I'm a bad bitch now." I said.

"The baddest." Vinnie laughed and I tilted my head to look up at him. "What's up?"

"Nothing." I replied. He leaned down and kissed my nose softly to which I scrunched it up in response. 

We fell asleep outside that night, wrapped in each other's arms as we watched the stars.

 It occured to me that as I looked at the sky full of uncountable stars, the only one I cared about had his arms wrapped around me.
