12.5 The First Date (Bonus)

"It's cute." He was beyond happy for his friend. Living with Sam meant that him and Finn knew everything about their relationship. Both were there when Sam had his heart broken with her running out, then when it got put back together when she told him she loved him.

Sam even got their advice for their first date. He had an idea that she would love but wanted to know what both of them thought- since Kurt was a not-so-hopless romantic and Finn was a secret romantic. She tried to get a answer about Sam's plan out of Kurt but he was not budging, letting her have a surprise.

Everything went relatively well and Becca was quick to head to her dressing room to finish getting ready. Kurt was already gone, but told her to use his dressing room to 'freshen up'. For the show, she did show up a little bit nicer than normal but she was still trying to impress Sam.

Little did she knew, everything she did impressed him. Especially her performance from tonight. 

Finish the last curl on her hair, she quickly made her way towards the lobby. Seeing Sam leaning up against the wall holding a bouquet of flowers with the bag Kurt from earlier at his feet, she made her way over to him. Glancing up, he saw her and met her halfway pulling her in a hug. "Good job! You did amazing."

"I mean I messed up a line-"

"Nope, you were amazing and I don't think anyone noticed," breaking away he handed her the bouquet of flowers. "Now I don't know about you, but I'd like to take you out on that date." Nervously agreeing, the duo made their way to his car. She was about to open her door, but Sam cuts her off and opens it for her. It was either his Southern roots or just really, really wants to impress her but he was trying to make this date really special. Getting into the drivers side, he couldn't help but complement her. "You always look beautiful so it's nothing new."

"Thank you Sam, and I didn't get to tell you earlier, but you look really handsome," she compliments him back. "Today is just wow."

Refusing to tell her where he's taking her, the two just get back to normal conversations. Even though this is a date, nothing new was happening as they were still the same two people they were before their mutual feelings were known. They were just basically best friends who have hots for each other and are in love. Nothing new.

The car pulled to a stop at a lake, Becca had to make sure that they were not going on a hike since she's in the wrong shoes. That wasn't the plan and Sam ran to get her door. "You don't have to keep getting my door," she laughs.

"I know but I want too," he smiles before heading to the trunk he passes her a blanket, grabbing a cooler. "I figured we could do a picnic and watch the sunset together on the lake! You like it?"

"I love picnics so I love it."

"That's what I thought," he pulls out a bouquet of roses. "I also got you these." Not taking from him, she's trying to remind him that he's already gotten her flowers. "But those were to show how proud I am of you cause you finally got to be a lead in a show like I know you could be. These are for the date." Blushing, she pulled out one of the roses and gave one to him as being the best date planner. Arm and arm, they walk off to find the best place for their first date.

The date was perfect, even if a few things went wrong. Like the apple cider overflowing and getting onto the side of the blanket. Or a pigeon coming by to steal the package of crackers. But it was perfect because they were together.

At sunset, the two were laying on the blanket looking up at the sky. "God it's so beautiful," Becca sighed, resting her head on his chest. "I always loved sunset."

"It's not as beautiful as you," he tells her. Lifting her head off of his chest to look into his eyes. Raising a hand, he moves the hair out of her face, "Can I?"

"Yeah," Sam leaned in and the two shared a kiss completely forgetting about the sunset focusing more on each other.

Breaking apart, they each had a goofy smile on their face. Glancing over, she noticed that while the sky is still pretty, it's getting darker. "We missed the sunset."

"Is that okay?" he asked, still kind of dazed.

"Yeah yeah... Can I kiss you again?" Getting a yes, she leaned back in meeting him halfway.

The pair spent the rest of their time together cuddling, making impressions, and watching the sky as the stars slowly become more noticeable. Nobody wanted this to end, but all Sam started to think was her dad threatening him. He was on his good side and didn't want that to change. "So as much as I want to just stay here with you, I don't want your dad to like, kill me for getting you home late."

"I don't have a curfew," she tells him. "Besides you know, the legal one."

"Why am I just learning about this?"

"I mean," glancing up at him, "I work at a theatre. The hours are weird. But it was never brought up. They only care that I let them know what's going on so they know I'm safe." But she knew he was right that it was getting late. "Five more minutes?"

He couldn't say no to that.

Walking her to the door of her house, both were going very slow. Even with the date coming to a close, either teen, didn't want it to end. "Sam," Becca replied, stopping him. "I had a really great time tonight."

"I'm glad," Sam tells her. He's been saving up for tonight for a while and he was glad. "So would you want to um, again?"

"Considering I'm in love with you, yes but I'm planning the next one." The two stand in silence, glancing at the door. "Well um, here's my door."

"There it is," he chuckles. Feeling bold he brought something p. "So you know it's kind of customary to have a kiss goodbye. We don't have to but-"

She cuts him off with just that. "You're lucky I love you." But as much as she wanted to spend more time with him, it was getting late. "Text me when you get home." 

Sam reluctantly left to his car, but not before saying one more thing to her. "I love you too."
