As Becca was walking to the choir room, Santana swooped in and stopped her. "Hey Care Bear," she says, "Rumor has it you're going to join the Cheerios."
Worried that she's going back to square one with her, she quickly tries to correct the rumor. "Santana, I haven't decided yet and I'm not trying to get popular or whatever okay."
Spending more time with Becca, Santana has actually grown to like the younger girl. "I'm over that. I've seen you dance with Matt and Mike and I heard from Tubbers that you've done gymnastics before. Knowing this, those skills could be useful for the club. Sure, I still believe that you should lose a couple of pounds before we try to get you into that uniform but Sue doesn't seem to think so. That's not my call." Lacing her arm with her's, Santana and her walked towards the Club, "Plus, my Britt-Britt likes you and it's not because you're trying to get in her head."
"I wouldn't want to hurt her anyway." Becca said, "Brittany is like the sweetest. I take it you two are pretty close."
The two girls make it to the choir room and see Brittany sitting there, "You can say that." Looking between the two, Becca can't help but smile at how close these two are, getting some romantic vibes between the two but refusing to assume anything.
Mr. Schue gets them all to sit down to announce the next assignment, writing the word, 'Ballad' across. "Ballad. From Middle English word balade . Who knows what that word means."
"It's a male duck." Brittany interjects.
Turning to her, Becca states, "So close Brittany." Brittany can't but smile at the girl.
Trying to find someone who he has a hope of being correct, Mr. Schue called on Kurt. "A ballad is a love song." he answers.
Mr. Schue, glad to be on the right track, corrects him. "Sometimes, but they don't always express love. Ballads are stories set to music which is why they're the perfect storm of self-expression. Stories and music are the way we express feelings that we can't get out any other way. Okay, now Sectionals are in a few weeks and there's a new rule this year. We have to perform a ballad." Rachel looks at everyone, proud that her constant writing to the committee ended in her getting what he wanted. "Okay, so here's our assignment for the week. I'm gonna pair you off, and I want you to pick a ballad to sing to your partner. Look them right in the eye, find the emotion you want to express, and make them feel it."
"I pick Quinn!" Finn announces.
"I got Kurt." Becca said, high fiving her friend.
Mr. Schue shakes his head, "No, no, no, no. Too Easy. Your partners will be chosen by fate." He holds up a hat and shakes it. "I put all your names in this hat. Whoever you choose is your partner."
"But there's an odd number." Santana reminds him.
"I guess I'll put my name in the hat." Mr. Schue says, shrugging. He invites everyone one by one to pick a name. Puck got Mercedes. Artie got Quinn. Much to his dismay, Finn got Kurt. He looks over at the only girl he knows that being there would make things so much less awkward, planning something. Santana got Brittany. Mike and Tina got paired up which got both Matt and Becca to tease him about it.
