Chapter 19 : Another monster

Naalala ni Cassandra. Nabangga din si Lotus ng wheeler truck? Ito din ang dahilan kung bakit na-comatose si Shaun ng ilang buwan. Ito ang dahilan kung napalayo ang loob ni Rylle sa kanya. Aminado si Cassandra na nagalit siya kay Shaun. She heard Shaun’s story from Rylle, but it didn’t changed her mind. Cassandra actually saw what happened to Shaun but she chose the unwilling ignorance.

Agad na hinarurot ni Hyacinth ang kotse papunta sa pinakamalapit na ospital, nakikita ko si Charmaine na naluluha na. Bakit umiiyak ‘tong tukmol na ‘to? Bulong ni Cassandra sa isip nito.

“Stop crying Charmaine! Clark won’t kill you dahil sa nanyari kay Lotus.” Sigaw ni Hyacinth dahil naiirita ito sa mga iyak nito.

 

“But Lotus is my brother’s other half! Pag namatay si Lotus, masisira ang lahat ng plano ni kuya para sa kanya!” Malakas na hiyaw ni Charmaine kaya agad na napatakip ng tenga sina Cassandra at Gabriel

“A..ang ingay n..niyo..” Impit na reklamo ni Lotus na namimilipit pa dahil sa mga kirot nito sa katawan gawa ng pagkakabangga sa kanya.

“Lotus?! Lotus, please be alive!” Hiyaw nanaman muli ni Charmaine

“Shut up sis, malayo sa bituka ito.” Nagawa pang mag-biro ni Lotus kahit na pakiramdam niya ay humi-hiwalay na ang likod niya mula sa katawan niya.

“Malayo nga sa bituka, malapit naman sa spinal cord.” Asik ni Hyacinth at nagpatuloy sa pag-drive ng kotse niya.

Arch’s POV

 

“And I can’t afford to lose the girl I protected for months.” Madiin kong saad kay Rylle at dire-diretso akong lumabas sa madilim na detention room.

I don’t like or love Hara. I just care for her. I saw her pain when the truth strikes her mind, the truth that Justine doesn’t love him, and worse, he almost killed Hara. Justine wasn’t the one who assaulted her directly, it was Samantha. But because of Justine, she tried to commit suicide multiple times. She has a scar on her left wrist and on her neck, reason why nowadays she frequently wears long sleeved sweaters and turtle necked shirts. She wants to hide those scars that signify her love for Justine.

I saw Hara at her weakest point. I saw her when she crumbled down into pieces. She looked like a dog abandoned by her owners at a street. Pero si Hara? Siya yung klaseng aso na aantayin ang amo niya kahit na alam niya na hinding-hindi na niya ito babalik kahit kailan, at mamamatay ito na nasa isip pa’rin ang amo niya.

But I trained her; I trained her to be strong. To not crumble into pieces again. To consider Justine as an enemy to be feared of. I was the reason for Hara’s toughness, but deep inside, she want to hug Justine tightly on her arms. She wants to hear his heartbeat. She wants to cup his cheek and plant a soft kiss on his lips. She learnt her lesson about love, but she never learnt her lesson about him.

“Arch..” I heard someone sobbing my name. I know this voice, its Hara’s voice. She’s breaking down into pieces again. This made me run towards her.

Then in a blink of a brown eye, I found myself hugging Hara, and whispered soft words on her ear. She was crying. She was crying because someone died because of her. Umiiyak nanaman siya kung paano siya umiiyak noon.

“Arch.. I..I’m sorry.. I broke d..down.. a..again..” Hara softly said between her sobs. I caressed her back and planted a light kiss on her forehead, like what I do when she cries.

“Hara, I blamed myself of what happened to Marco and Christopher. But hey, buhay sina Cass and Gab. Actually, you should be happy because Jade is already dead, Jade’s a killer, right? Binawasan mo ang mga kalaban natin, and I’m proud of you.” I whispered to her but she just shook her head, “Bakit?” I asked her.

Handa na ako sa sasabihin ni Hara.. pero hindi ko inaasahan na ito ang sinabi niya sa akin.

“Arch, you don’t understand! Cassandra or Gabriel is one of the killers! I saved another fucking monster!”
