Part Seven: Discourse Between Husband and Wife +18

Elijah was ready for a fight. Besides discovering yet another enemy that sought his family's demise, having found out that his wife had been lying to him, keeping secrets, and pretending to be infatuated with another man, had the Original itching to spill blood.

Despite her good intentions, it still angered him that she would choose to be dishonest with him and play games to achieve her goals. Because of this ire, he wanted Leo Rivera's head to roll most of all for trying to harm his family and for touching his beloved wife.

However, before he could make a move, Eternity intervened, coming to stand between Leo and himself. She turned to the wolf, while pressing a firm hand against Elijah's chest to keep him from lashing out. She must have recognized his lust for this particular battle.

"Leo, forgive me for the deception," she said firmly, like a parent to a child, "but you must understand that, despite your grievances, I cannot allow you to hurt the Mikaelsons nor can I allow you to start a bloody civil war that will result in immeasurable loss of life. Therefore, here and now, this madness of yours will end...one way or another."

Leo looked at her with utter betrayal that quickly morphed into a deep hatred.

"You would side with him," the wolf growled. "After all I told you, after the promises you made to me, to my pack. You would betray me for him?"

"Elijah is my husband and the Mikaelsons, for better or worse, are my family," the ethereal beauty replied. "Therefore, yes I would betray you for him, because my loyalty is to my husband, and to the very people you seek to destroy. Obviously, I cannot allow you to do that. You will die this night, unless you denounce you plot for revenge and leave New Orleans for good."

Leo's teeth ground together in sheer hatred as he looked between Elijah and Eternity with a fiery and unforgiving rage, "Never. I will never bow down to the Mikaelsons!"

"Then let your stubbornness be the death of you," shrugged Eternity, her sweet, melodious voice being cold as ice.

At once, chaos unleashed in that ballroom. The Rivera pack moved to attack in defense of their alpha, while the Crescent pack moved to intercept and fight back, turning on their fellow wolves.

Though Hayley and Eternity had form this plot to protect the Mikaelsons, the Crescent pack fought the Rivera out of their own hatred of the rival pack. Pride and that hate had driven them to betraying their own kind and fighting against an alliance that would have surely brought the wolves more power, but at greater cost than they were willing to give.

Elijah joined them, fighting side by side with his enemy to defeat their common one. Rivera wolves came for him, but he descended upon them, tearing them apart without mercy or remorse. Eternity, on the other hand, was merciful, he observed. She did not aim to kill those who dared to come at her, only immobilized them by breaking bones or rendered them unconscious. She was sparing them.

"Foot soldiers are only doing as their master commands. They do not deserve death on the battlefield and I do my best to show them mercy," he recalled her telling him once. "Their master, my true enemy, on the other hand, deserves none and so I do not show them any."

Thinking about that had Elijah changing tactics. He decided to reserve the rest of his unforgiving rage for Leo Rivera himself and began to simply break the bones of the wolves foolish enough to tangle with him.

Painful screams, blood, and death filled the air around him, as the battle raged on. The sounds of war echoed off the walls acutely in a sea of violence.

Then within a matter of moments, the battle had come to a halt as the Rivera pack retreated, carrying off their unconscious comrades and scurrying away with their tails between their legs. As the dust settled, it became clear as to why they had suddenly given up the fight: in the chaos of battle, Leo Rivera had escaped.
