Koishi: Please, I don't want to lose someone!
A warm liquid in the corner of her eyes, it was her turn to beg. If she could, she would have dropped on her knee to face them but it would also mean letting go of the man and that was the last thing she wanted to do right now. Feeling the sincerity from a mile away, it did not change the horrible deeds the man has done inside this place, nothing could forgive his actions that he himself admitted.
His only way to be forgiven was to be eliminated, he only saw that ending as true redemption after all he did. He was in no position to bargain for a middle ground and one of the members of the team solving the incident had a grudge against him for said actions.
Yukari: ...
The corner of lips curved upwards at the sight.
Y/N: Something funny?
With a monotone voice, he dropped a remark about her shift of mood, lightly annoyed by the fact that she was taking his own surrender lightly. After all, he was THE monster that caused SO much trouble, the bad guy that they were looking for. Surely, they would have taken him more seriously than that but no, nothing of that sort.
I guess in the end, he would only be ridiculed by those stronger than him, the youkais. He wanted to be angry at that but at the same time, they had the rights to brag, they were the strong ones, he couldn't fare against them in the slightest. The only reason he won so far was because of his allies or the library supporting him and both of them were gone, he had nothing.
A nobody that dies with nothing, quite funny when you put it like that.
Yukari: Perhaps.
Ran: Lady Yakumo?
The woman behind her raised an eyebrow, not knowing whether to be on guard or not since her master was completely at ease. The others must have sensed the shift and followed suit. All hostilities dropped, the mood seemed to go in a calmer direction.
Then, her grand mind formulated a rather enticing and quite possibly profitable exchange from an incident such as this one. Her smirk growing, she clapped her hands together and feigned innocence, which was as useful as a bucket with a hole at the bottom of it.
Yukari: Y/N right? That is your name?
Y/N: ...
He nodded back, confirming her question. With a slightly raised hand, she continued her questions with a rather simple one.
Yukari: Do you truly want to die?
Y/N: ...
At that question, he pondered. Sure, his mind was empty, his emotions erased from his body after the confrontation that he could not remember against Koishi Komeiji but a certain part of him still whispered about how unfair the situation was. He was forced to do this job or else he would die, why would he have to pay the price of someone else's doing? Was the correct path to simply let himself die from the very start?
However, the fury he could easily muster in the past dwindled out to the point of simply being a mere speck in his mind. He could not forgive them so easily for what they did but now, that blind rage would no longer haunt his thoughts and decisions.
Y/N: If that is needed of me then yes.
Was he still afraid of death? Of course, a phobia doesn't vanish in one day but his regrets could no longer pull his strings and force him to commit horrible decisions in the sake of "survival". Bracing the ending he deserved, he looked down at the small girl clinging to him still. Placing his head on her hat, he calmed her down while awaiting his judgement.
