Welcome guys!

Thank you so much for choosing my book!

As some of you might know, Turpentine is the first book ever that I have completed. Being my first book, I'll always have a special love for it despite the typos and plot holes.

That doesn't mean that I can't perfect it.

I decided to let the original remain as it is- I didn't want to change it fundamentally there. There were so many beautiful comments that you guys had left and I felt like it would be a shame if those got deleted as well.

Hence, I decided to revamp Turpentine in this book (get it? Revamp?)

QUESTIONS THAT I FEEL LIKE YOU SHOULD KNOW THE ANSWERS TO

1. Why should you read this manuscript when you know the plot of the original?

Short answer- the plot changes here.
Yeah, Turpentine had a pretty okay plot, but I felt it lacking. Especially when I'm a little more experienced now in plot construction.
I've changed the plot from the first chapter itself.
Also, if you read this manuscript too, you're awesome and I love you.

2. What changes should you expect?

Okay, number one, plot. I've explained that.

Number two, characters. I've decided to delve deeper into what makes my characters different. Basically, I felt like my characters sometimes got a little monotonous. I didn't give them enough challenges and their flaws weren't showcased. Pierson got her screen-space and to some extent Jade, but everyone else's personal battles are yet to be shown.

Number three, location. Yeah, I worked on creating a proper human world instead of simply focussing on Zenaria (the Vampire homeland), Lupovia (the Packlands), and a surprise underground world about which I won't divulge now.

3. Why did I decide to do this?

Personal satisfaction. You don't know how many times Turpentine has been trashed by judges. What one of the judges had said about it, has still stuck with me.

COPYRIGHT AND OTHER THREATS THAT I'M ABOUT TO SPEW

For real though, don't even attempt to plagiarise my work. If you found my work creative enough to plagiarise, you should know that I'm pretty creative when it comes to getting people into trouble too.

Also, whatever I write is fiction that has spawned from my brain. Resemblance to any person living or (un)dead is purely coincidental.

My story is rated Mature due to profanity (yeah I'm finally 18- according to the year anyway- and Wattpad won't delete my book for this), scenes of violence and gore, and mild steamy scenes. I don't write smut because I feel too awkward writing that.

It probably won't be of any use, but kindly refrain from being a silent reader. I want to know your thoughts on my story.

A humble request: if you've read Turpentine, please refrain from spoiling it in the comments for new readers. I would be forced to delete your comments and I take no accountability for hurt egos. Besides, nobody likes spoilers. Save yourself from the hate, k?

NOTE FOR JUDGES

Before you dive into judging with gusto, I want to tell you something.

Thank you for your time and efforts. It's a very helpful thing that you're doing by judging my work. Any kind of constructive criticism is more than appreciated as it helps me hone my art.

Next, I get this question a lot. What does Turpentine mean in the story's context?

Turpentine is a substance that's used as a thinner. It's also used to erase or wash out the paint. In my story, Pierson is an artist. She's also the art. She's the colorful canvas that is slowly being stripped off of color by "Turpentine" that is, the traumatic experiences that she's had to face.

I hope this helps. And please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions instead of assuming and deducting marks. That hurts.

Hope you have a great experience.
