Out of all the ways for humanity to evolve, it was into the concept of soulmates. There was no chancing and hoping that whoever you married was "The one." Instead, humanity evolved to include soulmates into one of the first mammal traits.

Hair.

There was no people with markings on their bodies that matched together. No. There was instead an ability that streaked your hair with the color your soulmate changed theirs.

The only way to keep your natural color was if neither ever dyed their hair, or dyed it back to their natural color. But there was no way to get rid of it either. You couldn't cut it off, it would only shift to another lock of hair. If you tried to dye only the streaks, your hair wouldn't accept the dye.

It was a real pain in the ass.

Which is why when Jennie woke up that day to a loud snickering from her roommate and best friend, Park Chaeyoung, she had no idea what was going on.

"Your fucking hair, bestie, oh god!" Chae guffawed. Jennie shot up, confused. She turned her head to the large mirror that sat on her drawer from across the room. Among her normal light brown were... fuck.

Rainbow streaks. In her fucking hair. There was neon green, yellow, fucking red and blue and purple and even pink. Jennie didn't even think pink was in the rainbow.

When she meets her soulmate, she was gonna scream at them. She glanced a little to the left, noticing the coat and suit hanging over the chair on the corner of the room.

Oh shit, shit, shit, shit, she had an interview today!

Jennie heard a shutter of a phone and turned, Just to see Chae bringing her phone down, looking on the screen mischievously.

"Chae, What the fuck!" Jennie exclaimed, rushing into the bathroom right outside her bedroom door, hoping she didn't sleep in.

"What?? It's funny, I'm posting it. 'Soulmate trouble' or 'trouble in rainbow city'? I don't know which caption I like better." Chae narrowed her eyes in concentration, staring at the wall as she thought it out.

Jennie glanced at her phone, cursing at the time. Not only had her soulmate ruin pretty much any chance of Jennie getting signed, Jennie was also late to that meeting. She looked at the sink, then sighed deeply.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Jennie was rushing to the subway station when her phone buzzed. She slid her ticket into the machine and pushed the gate, stepping onto the platform and into the train that's about to leave. She held onto the pole, fishing her phone out of her pocket just to see a new picture message from Chae. She quickly unlocked her phone, clicking on the photo to enlarge it.

It was a picture of Jennie, with her rainbow hair, and a frantic expression, Captioned with 'guess whos soulmate got a dye job.' Before she could even reply, another message bubbled popped up.

There was a turn in the track, Jennie's body shaking with the train. When she was able to focus on the new message, she groaned.

'Theres over 2,000 notes on it, srry bestie.'

"Fuck you Chae." Jennie muttered under her breath. The woman on the seat near her covered her child's ears, glaring at Jennie. But she really couldn't bring herself to care.

When Jennie got home two hours later, she fell face-forward down onto the couch, letting out a deep breath into the old cushions. The woman interviewing her had taken one look at her rainbow hair and grimaced, but still continued with the interview.

By the end, she had ended the meeting with a, "We'll call you in a few days." That, Jennie had learned, meant, 'You are so not getting this job'.

"Didn't go well?" Chae asked from the loveseat across the table, Jennie had enough energy in her to flip Chae off.

"Wow, I thought I was going to show you something you'd definitely want to see, but nevermind now." Chaeyoung said in a voice that made Jennie instantly groan, Because that as Chae's voice that said, 'This is actually something you should really know'.

Jennie managed to pull herself into a sitting position before raising an eyebrow at Chae. Chae then grinned, tapping on her phone screen before handing the phone to Jennie, who took it warily.

Jennie glanced down then met Chae's eyes,"

"You've got to be kidding me."

"Nope!" Chae said, popping the letter p "That's Kim Jisoo, head of the label you were meeting with today; Doesn't her hair look a little familiar?"

It did. It did look familiar because it was the same colors that sat on Jennie's scalp currently.

"And that's not even all; Guess what private message I got on Tumblr today?" Chae said, not really phrased as a question. Chae didn't let Jennie answer, "Go to my photo album, the most recent photo, you'll really be surprised."

Jennie went to the home screen, scrolling a page until she saw the icon with a flower on it. She clicked on it, then tapped on the main album, tapping once again on the most recent pictured in the list..

There was a screenshot of a Tumblr message there, from a blog called 'turtlerabbitkim' saying, 'I saw your post and I think the person in your post is my soulmate???? My friends dyed my hair like that as a joke. Pls respond -Jisoo'

Jennie blacked out for a moment. When she came to her consciousness, Chae was already slipping her phone in her pocket before sitting back down on the loveseat.

"I gave her your blog name, then told her  you'd be more than happy to meet her for coffee at that Starbucks on the corner tomorrow, 12pm sharp. Oh and- don't be late, Jennie."

"Looks like it's late already! I'm going to bed, Goodnight." Chae waved hastily then went off into her own room, leaving Jennie gaping on the couch.

She opened her own Tumblr, checking her notification where at the top one appeared:

'turtlerabbitkim' is now following you

Oh god.

So, there Jennie was at 11:50 the next day, sitting at a table in Starbucks, pushing her beanie down her head more every time someone gave her a strange look. She took out her phone from her pocket, glancing at the time.

11:51.

She could not do this.

Jennie stood up, turning around when she collided into something surprisingly soft. She looked down, saw a pair of shoes and cursed.

"I'm so sorry, I wasn't looking and-"

That was when her eyes met brown eyes, and slightly above that?

A mess of rainbow dyed hair.

Oh.

Her soulmate held out her hand, "Jisoo Kim."

Jennie took it, managing a, "Jennie Kim." before adding, "Please don't dye your hair like this ever again, It really doesn't look good on me."

Jisoo laughed. "I'd have to disagree in that, I doubt anything could look bad on you."

Jennie dropped her hand and flushed bright red, Not even needing a mirror to know she resembled a tomato right now.

Jisoo grinned, a twinkle in her eyes.

Jennie was so falling hard already.
