Weak spot - Gally || Pt.2

Start from the beginning

“Hi, Gally” I called him, squeezing his arm as he walked past me.

“Oh” He looked up at me and appeared to be flustered by my presence so close to him, which amused me deeply. “Hi, Y/N”

He kept walking, but dedicated me a warm smile before he did.

I looked over my shoulder at him, not really paying attention where I stepped.

And, not surprisingly, I tripped and fell to the floor with a thud.

I winced and hissed in pain as I sat down on my butt. I had landed on my knees and hands.

A few Gladers laughed at me, but one of them hurried on to my side.

“Slim it, shanks!” Gally quickly kneeled next to me.

His scowl was visible as he flashed a death glare towards anyone who was still glancing at me. But when he turned his head to me, his expression softened.

“Are you okay?”

Gally seemed to be genuinely concerned, which puzzled me. He had never shown any kind of interest in me before.

I had only tripped, but he looked really worried. It made me chuckle because he looked at me like I had just been fighting a shuck Griever.

“Y/N?” He insisted, frowning when he saw I didn’t answer.

“I’m fine” I analyzed myself to reckon the harm the fall had done to me.

My jeans had protected my knees from scraping against the floor, but my bare hands were all scratched and one of them was bleeding.

“Come on, I’ll take you to the Med-Jacks” Gally held my wrist, staring at the cut in the palm of my hand that kept bleeding even if it wasn’t much.

“It’s nothing, Gally”

His eyes sternly looked into mine, an intense glare that startled me.

“The Glade is filled with dirt, it will get infected” He gravely told me.

“Get a room, you two!” One of the Gladers yelled at us. If it weren’t because that wasn’t his voice, I would have sworn it was Minho. Out of habit.

Gally blushed a little at the comment, but I just laughed it out.

I let him pull me up by holding me firmly by the waist and I smirked at him.

“Are you going to carry me too, Gally?” I teased him, noticing how he never let go of me as we started walking.

He didn’t answer, but I saw how he pouted a little and just squeezed my waist briefly.

Clint laughed when he saw my ‘wound’ when Gally told him that I needed to be treated immediately.

He said he had seen worse, even when Chuck poked his hands with the thorns of the Gardens. I laughed at that comment, but Gally just scowled at him as usual.

But Clint cleaned my wound, stopped the bleeding and then bandaged my hand.

Even when he was done, Gally was still worried about my wellbeing, asking if something else hurted. The cut in my hand didn’t even hurt.

He was being so unnecessarily apprehensive and overdramatic. But I found his concern truly endearing.

When Clint went back to doing his other Med-Jack duties, Gally sat down next to me in the cot I had been sitting in the whole time.

“I finally get it” He blurted out all of a sudden.

Somehow I knew that he meant. What I had told him the other time about my behavior.

At the beginning, I was so affectionate with Gally just to mess with him so he would stop being a slinthead. But it was surprising how nice and warm hugging him felt like.

And it seemed like he finally understood why girls behaved like that towards boys.

“How?” I asked him, absently staring at the bandage on my palm.

“I don’t know, it just hit me” He shrugged and very slowly and hesitantly reached out to hold my injured hand.

I grinned and shifted my glare until it layed on his. He, however, averted my glance.

“And how do boys behave towards girls?”

Gally shrugged again, appearing to be sulky.

“Do you at least know what you’re going to do now that you know?”

Finally, Gally’s eyes focused on me and he lifted the corners of his lips.

“Yes”

Still not letting go of my hand, Gally placed his free one on my face and I noticed how he got closer to me.

On instinct, I leaned forward too until our lips briefly met. It was just hardly a grace, but it was somehow enough for now.

I looked up and into his eyes, that were staring back. I noticed a big grin on his lips that reached out to his eyes and I grinned back.

I don’t know how I knew, but that was our silent promise that there were more kisses to come. Many, many more.
