I wasn't always like this. Dead, I mean. I was always like this personality wise. I describe myself as serious and logical although people always told me I was funny because I was funny without knowing I was being funny. Funny isn't it? Anyway back to what I was saying. I tend to ramble a bit but it adds to my charm I've been told although I fail to see what charm they are on about. Aside from my amazing personality the whole dead part really is a downer because people can't see me. At least living people. Dead people see me just fine. I suppose I should give some context before I properly begin. My name is Andreala Courina Arakina Augustus but people would be dead by the time they finished saying all that so most just call me Andi. I was born somewhere in the 14th century. It's been so long now that even I have forgotten my birth date. I think I'm somewhere around the 631 year old mark. Still quite young by dead standards. I died at the age of 19 although why and how I would prefer not to discuss at this time. What I would like to discuss is why I decided to attempt to write this in the first place and what this is. I decided that people needed to know what happened after they die and just how diverse this deathly (see what I did there?) community is. Dead town interestingly enough is exactly what it says on the label. It is a town where the dead go after they die. Well most of the dead. I'll get to that momentarily. Most of the dead when they die go through a really bright light like holding a lantern up to your eyes and then the boat arrives. The boat is absolutely huge with enough space to fit hundreds and there is multiple boats on the lake which we call green ghost lake because again as the label says the lake is green and full of ghosts which I will once again explain in a moment. There is obviously multiple boats because hundreds die every minute. The ferrymen are all reapers that never speak and are never seen by any passengers and I have heard rumours that they aren't really properly there at all but who knows what to believe. All the dead go on the boat and the majority end up at Dead town as I said earlier. However there are some exceptions. The ghosts of green ghost lake are unfortunate souls that rejected death as they died so only a part of their soul passed through the bright light and hence they are sentenced to an eternity as mindless sentient beings in the lake. Also if a soul on the boat is unlucky enough to fall out or some jump out, I have seen it happen they are grabbed by the ghosts and dragged to the bottom where they too are transformed into one of the green ghosts. As for the others who don't pass into ghost town or become green ghosts, these are known as the iniquity. They are dark beings who are shrouded in blackness because their souls were so tainted from their actions during their lives that there was very little left to pass through the light as they expired. These beings are still dangerous in the afterlife to the other ghosts because they can completely destroy what remains of our souls and we cease to exist completely or they can corrupt a dead ones soul and then...well I would prefer not to say. The iniquity lives in a separate area that we all know as the wickedness which isn't an original name but from what I have heard is very accurate because they live in caves that are carved into the shape of different beasts such as the Chimera which gives the caves a very wicked appearance. I am only going on what I have heard here because people who travel to the wickedness never return so perhaps these are just rumours. Either way I thought people would be interested to know what life is like in the afterlife from my perspective anyways. Dead town is a massive town. I jest not. You could walk for months day and night and not get from one side of Dead town to the other. Even by the stagnant train it takes several weeks. I have been a resident of the town for well over 600 years now and even I can say that I have never fully explored the town. One would never fully explore it either way. It constantly changes with each new arrival. The town is split into different sections with different names. A bit like neighbourhoods I suppose. Let's face it how would the paranormal post express know where to deliver people's packages if it was all the same place.Houses here are very basic. Most of them anyway. There is bigger houses when more then one resident arrives here from the same household. It is not uncommon for entire families to arrive at the same time. I know all this because I work on the welcoming committee. It is necessary to explain all this to new residents of Dead town because we do not die with all this knowledge. There are rules in Dead town and laws just like in the real life which is what we use to refer to our former lives when we needed to breathe and eat and sleep. We still do these things in Dead town but more out of habit than need. It kills (no pun intended) some time to cook things and eat with friends and family because let's face it, we have all the time in the world. We also have restaurants and spas and so on. We do not have a bank or any form of money. People do their jobs because they want to or because they have nothing else to be at so there is no need to any form of money which is a good thing because some of my friends died because of money in their real life so I know money is not always a good thing. Either way there is rules in Dead town around these things. Rule number one is the most important and simple: No person may ever leave Dead town once they have arrived. This makes sense for a number of reasons. Firstly, where would you be going. There is no place to go except green ghost lake or the wickedness which is the second reason why this rule makes sense. It is dangerous out of the town. Even though we are dead we can still be completely destroyed or changed into some awful sentient or evil being and it is not so bad here in town. Rule number two: No person may harm another person in Dead town. Believe it or not we can still be harmed in the afterlife. It won't hurt and you won't die but if someone chops off your arm it won't grow back so it's very awkward if something like that happens. That's why we have the ghost police. To stop acts of violence although truth be told they often use more force then necessary because it is made up of former mafia or military members that made it into the town. It's better to just not do anything that needs them to come out. Trust me. Finally rule number three: Follow the rules. Simple enough to understand I think. There are many sub laws and all that but I don't think any of us want to be bored with them. There is a reason I'm on the welcoming committee and not a councilman. That's another thing. There is a Dead town council. They don't do anything fancy. They tackle issues like where to put new housing and the best ways to welcome new people and so on and so forth. Either way I think that's Dead town and the community introduced well enough. You'll learn more as I go through the story anyways. Much more. So to finally begin... It was a normal day in Dead town.....
