John's  POV.

It was morning. Everyone had gotten a heavy meal and is now going for Normandy, the place where we're supposed to land and take as a strategic point against the Germans. Doomsday has come to us and we're supposed to fight against the almighty. Thanks to bad weather, the landings was delayed a few days. Thank god today was the time. Chances of living is unknown. God help me.

3rd POV.

Bombers could be seen in the sky, B-17's presumably. The bomb bay would open but they delayed their payload for 3 seconds before releasing it. The bombs exploded but not triggering the beach defenses such as mines. The landing crafts moving up and down through the waters, giving the passengers onboard sea-sickness. Some even vomited on the boat, while mortar fire was getting closer and closer, the G.I's expecting them to just die on the landing craft. The British Sailor driving the landing craft would alarm the passengers in the boat that they have exactly 30 seconds before approaching the beach and touchdown. Some were praying, some were already drained from the fear. John's breathing slowed as he tried to calm down but his heartbeat says otherwise. He looked to his left, seeing his buddy holding a cross with one hand, eye closed and prayed. He looked back full front and closed his eyes too and prayed. 20... He opened his eyes and the mortar fire is getting close. 15... He looked up at the last bombers as they dropped their payload but still to no avail hitting the beach defenses. 10...

Sailor: "10 SECONDS, YANKS!"

???: "DROP THE RAMP!"

2 Soldiers would turn the valves for the ramp and dropped them. All hell broke loose as the ramp dropped.

???: "SHIT-"

The 2 front soldiers would get gunned down by the machine gun fire from the bunker on the hill looking down at the beach. The boat was getting clogged, making it difficult for them to get out of the craft and on to the beach. John was panicking as the Germans kept firing, stopping only for a few seconds and firing again. He saw that some of the guys in his boat climbed out from the side, which he followed. He didn't want to die in a boat that just landed. He dropped into the channel but quickly regret it as his equipment was too heavy. Two things was pinning him down. Gunfire from above, heavy equipment below. John quickly disregarded his webbing, M1 garand as he knew there were more rifles to be collected above from the dead. Disrespectful, but every man for himself. He swam onto the beach only with his bandolier which was carrying some of his ammo. Once he felt land, he quickly sprinted to the tank trap that was meant for armored vehicles. He looked around and noticed one thing. His helmet was gone. He cussed mentally and looked around if the soldiers were grouping up. Stupid, but they must have a temporary ralley point. He saw some of his division moving up on the beach. John quickly ran to them.

???: "SERGEANT JOHN! WE'RE GETTING PINNED DOWN!"

John: "I CAN SEE THAT YOU DUMBASS!" John shouts at the Private. "MOVE UP ON THE BEACH SLOWLY! LOOK FOR AN OFFICER IF YOU CAN! THEY CAN'T JUST LEAVE US WITHOUT A GODDAMN OFFICER FOR GOD SAKES!" John tells them, quickly grabbing a random helmet from a dead body, bowing his head a little to respect the dead. "We're really in deep shit." John says to himself in his head.

Mortars would hit the beach, creating small holes but also killing a few men, body parts flying as they died. Gunfire would still continue, killing more americans on the beach. John quickly made some advancements and charged with the soldiers that was also charging for the sea wall. John dived for cover and looked at the bunker that had the MG42.

John: "You bastards just wait..." He says, glaring at the bunker.

???: "BANGALORE! WE NEED SOME BANGALORE!"

???: "Bangalore comin' through!" The field engineers would say as they carried some bangalore pipe bombs.

They quickly set the bangalores up to quickly disable the bunkers above.

???: "CLEAR THE SHINGLE!"

Field Engi: "FIRE IN THE HOLE!"

???: "Fire in the hole!"

They put their heads down as they waited for the bangalores to blow the barbed wire away. After the Bangalore had exploded, the americans charged up the hill. John stayed to loot a rifle before joining them. The bunkers would be cleared by grenades and flamethrowers. Germans were retreating back to the Cotentin Peninsula. The ones that surrendered were killed. Some men would sit down and cried while some just sat and just contemplate at what happened not too long ago. John was looking at the beach, sighing.

John: "What a cruel world this is."

["Amend" would start playing.
To be continued...]

[Teaser for upcoming chapter]

Gunfire could be heard as well as shouting.

John: "STAY WITH ME! MEDIC!! I NEED A FUCKING MEDIC HERE!"

???: He couldn't speak as he held his gunshot wound on the neck.

...

End.
