 ̶ ̶̶̶ ̶ ̶ ̶̶̶ ̶«̶ ̶̶̶ ̶   ... AND WENT
BACK IN TIME.  ̶»̶ ̶̶̶ ̶ ̶ ̶̶̶ ̶»̶ ̶̶̶ ̶ ̶

the hums of a sweden forest
questions my wits,
the sun of this distant land
is a winter's reminisce,
wildflowers are enchanting
the snow desert’s wind,
the woodlands of monsoon whisper
sweet nothings in a quiet innocence.

i am a wanderer dancing
in the ludic forest,
the dryland was decorated
by a bohemian florist,
the moon visits my skylight
when i'm downhearted,
but only orion knows
the coax of my sadness.

would you be the plumerian
gold streak across my galaxies?
the lilac of your chest knows me
from a millennia old dream,
neptune's rings are arched
around our souls to hold us
firm in life's trajectory,
i've promised you alone,
i'll take you home to the place
where trees shed familiar leaves,
and faint choirs are sung by the
angels in the small chapel for our
families.

i whisht the old grass on which i lay,
even the columbines here
chant my name,
i screamed an inquiry to
the stars for the dead river's sake,
orion said, 'ask sirius',
"the whole world and humankind
looks up to you", i claimed,
orion hushed, 'not all do, just the fewʼ-
'delirious souls sadly
wandering around like you.ʼ

A/N : this poetry is the third and last part of trilogy of a time traveller, where the last living soul goes to the past in search of a friend, a lover or family, but finds orion in the midst of a sweden rainforest instead.

this piece is really special to me because it is essentially about finding peace in solitude (or within oneself) rather than seeking it from other people. it's the kind of surety that things will be fine. and it also talks about a wandering spirit, someone searching for home away from home. but let me know how you interpret it!

references :

- columbine : is a swedish wildflower and is the same one in the gif iʼve made for this poetry. people usually take columbine as symbolism for strength, wisdom and peace, which are the feelings the traveller feels at the end.

- orion said, 'ask sirius' : the constellation of orion, the hunter, is the most easily recognizable one in the night sky and is often used to find sirius, the brightest star of the night sky.

ancient egyptians called sirius “the nile star” because it always appeared in the sky right before summer began and the waters of the river nile began to flood.

- dead riverʼs sake : this river is nile, showing that the time period where this story takes place is once where nile has dried up temporarily and before it flows again, sirius is seen in the sky. the location of the poetry is of course not africa, it just references to nile because of the ancient egyptian belief i mentioned above and to show that this poetry takes place during the winter (before summer).

thank you for reading, i hope you enjoyed and have a great day ahead! ♡
