Miranda's POV
I got the keys and walked over to the car and Nick got in the driver's side as usual.
"Why don't I ever get to drive?" I asked.
"Well looking at the circumstances your 16 and don't have a license." He said all smug.
"Is it that or are you afraid I'm a better driver than you" I said as I got in the car.
"Child let's not be foolish here, we both know I'm the best."
"Ha-ha yeah whatever you say" I laughed.
We drove around for 10 minutes then I saw this coffee shop. I was pretty hungry so I told Nick if he wanted to go.
"Hey if there's muffins and orange juice I'm in."
"Alright let's go." I said as we got out the car.
We sat at a table in the far corner it was pretty packed. There were mostly kids our age hanging around. Maybe this was there hang out spot.
"Good morning I'm Red. I'll be your waitress what would you like to order?" she said smiling. She was around my age maybe older.
I looked at the menu.
Banana nut muffin!
"I'll have a banana nut muffin and orange juice." I said
"And you?" she asked my brother.
"I'll have the same." He said smiling.
"Okay I'll be back with your order." She left.
"What did you think of the waitress? Pretty hot huh?" nick grinned.
"Uh hellooo girl here. I like guys not girls." I said each word slowly.
"Man, see this is why I need some guys to hang out with."
"Yeah you do"
"Here is your order" she set down our stuff.
"Thanks" we both said.
"Jinks you owe me a soda" Nick said.
"Really? And you say I'm the child here." I said.
"Hey whats up?" I heard this guy say.
I turned around and saw a very cute guy. He had blond hair and blue eyes and he was tall.
"Nothing much" I said.
"Chilling" my brother said.
"Mind if I sit down." He said pointing towards a chair.
"No its fine."
"I'm Cameron by the way." He smiled a killer smile if I might add.
"I'm Miranda and that's my brother Nick." I said.
"So ya'll are the ones who moved in on Rosewood street right?" he asked.
"Yeah. How did you know." My brother asked.
"Well it's a small town and news travels faster than lighting here."
He had a small southern accent. Kind of cow boyish.
"Have you played the new video game Fallout: Vegas?" my brother asked.
After that I spaced out. My brother and Cameron talked about the stupid video game for 10 minutes.
I was taking the last bite of my muffin when I sensed someone staring at me. I turned around and saw this tall guy with black hair staring. He didn't even look the other way when I looked at him. I felt uncomfortable. Something about him felt wrong.
"Hello" my brother said waving his hand in front of my face.
"Oh, what?"
"Were leaving I just have to go pay the check." He got up and went to the counter.
"I'm sorry you must have been really bored just hearing us talk about video games." Cameron said apologetically.
"It's okay. I have a game obsessed dad and brother so I'm used to it."
This kid was really sweet.
"Do you like-"Cameron didn't get to finish.
At that moment the tall guy with the dark hair walked over to our table.
"Miranda, can I talk to you." He asked
"Uh yeah" how did he know my name?
"Over here" he led me a few feet away close to the bathrooms.
"So?" I asked.
"Stay away from Cameron" his face was blank.
"What?"
"Promise me you'll stay way" he said grabbing me by the elbow.
"Ow, you're hurting me"
"Promise me" he pressed harder.
"Let her go Seth!" Cameron yelled and pushed Seth on the ground.
