Lacey's P.O.V

It sucked living in the hospital,  all the bland walls, and the aseptic smell of all the chemicals making me even more nauseated than I already was. I don't actually live in the hospital, I just go there a lot. I wasn't born with good lungs; I was born with Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia, more commonly known as BPD, so I had to go to the hospital almost every two days. Tonight is one of those nights.

My breathing was more horrible than usual, I was hanging out with my brother Scott and our best friend Stiles. We were watching this new horror movie that had just come out. I didn't feel well, so I went upstairs to lie down and catch my breath but felt hungry for spaghetti. I was walking out of my room to go get something to eat when I couldn't breathe. My vision blurred, causing me to become disoriented and fall to the ground. With Scott being a werewolf and his excelled hearing, he heard a thud. Whenever something like this happens, it fuddles my sense of time. Five minutes can feel like 5 hours, and that's what it felt like right now. The next thing I know, I was being picked up by Scott and rushed to the hospital. We were in Stiles' baby blue jeep, his pride, and joy. During the ride, I passed out because of a lack of oxygen.

Scott's P.O.V

Stiles and I raced Lacey into the hospital and as soon as we walked through the doors, a team had already taken her from my hands. I felt so guilty. She could be healthy right now, Derek had offered her the bite. She could breathe with no problem right now. Instead, I had to be the hero and say it would ruin her life, not even asking her what she wanted. Stiles saw my face and put his hand on my shoulder and squeezed to show his support. I smiled sadly and took out my phone, dialing up Liam, my beta.

(L=Liam, S=Scott.)

L-Hello?

S- Hey, I'm at the hospital with Lacey. Can you bring some clothes of hers?

L- Yeah, of course. See you in a little.

S- Liam?

L- Yeah?

S- Don't you dare go through my sister's underwear drawer.

L- First off, what do you take me for? Good Lord, also do you just expect her to wear dirty underwear?

S- I take you as a teenage boy. I'll have one of the nurses here bring her a fresh pair. Thank you.

L- No problem, see you soon.

I hung up the phone and sighed rubbing my forehead and pacing back and forth the hallways outside of my sister's room. As I was watching my sister being able to breathe only by a couple of tubes and a ventilator, the doctor stepped out of Lacey's room looking extremely worried. I hurried toward him.

"What's wrong?" I asked with a quivering voice.

"This attack was much worse than the others. If I was you, I would consider pulling the plug. I'm terribly sorry." The doctor said.

Did he just suggest I kill my sister?

I walked back into her room and looked at her sickly figure. Her chest moves up when the machine lets out a hiss. I go to sit by her bed and hold her hand. I try to take some of the pain away, but I felt nothing.

I'm scared, the only time I ever didn't feel pain was when Allison was dying.

"It's alright. I'm right here." I whisper while pushing Lacey's hair out of her face, hoping to get some type of response, but she lays still. I breathe deeply, trying to hold back tears.

Liam knocks on the door, and I turn around, waving him in.

"Hey, dude. I brought her some of her favorite clothes." Liam mumbled.

"Thanks." I simply say.

There is an unbroken atmosphere of sadness.

"The doctor thinks I should pull the plug. End her suffering." I sniveled.

"What are you thinking of doing?" Liam questions solemnly.

"I know my mom wouldn't want me to let her go, but she also doesn't want Lacey to be suffering like she is right now," I answer.

"Well, I'll support you either way. You're my alpha and friend." Liam offers.

"I can't think about this right now, I need to sleep on it. Go home, Liam. I'll see you tomorrow." I said.

Liam offered no more words and just patted my back and turned to leave. I was left alone and let my shoulders drop and my lips started trembling. I leaned my head on Lacey and I's intertwined hands. I filled the next few minutes with sniffles and the consistent hiss of the ventilator.

The nurses brought in a cot for me to sleep on next to her. I lay down facing Lacey, trying to think about all of this. Stiles came in at some point and sat down in the chair next to her bed. I looked over at Stiles and just thought about how thankful that he is always with me through everything that has happened.
