The light shone through the glass covered hole I had to call a window. It went across my face and felt warm and cozy, another reason why I can't seem to get out of bed aside from the cold. I was about to yawn when my little sister came in.
"Wake up sleepy face!" She yelled, almost killing my ears, "you gotta take me to school!" I had just graduated from high school, but my sister still had a few more weeks yet before the end of the school year. She was 14 and perky, I was not. Well I was but not in the mornings.
"Come on!" She yelled again. "I wanna go to school!"
"I thought you hated school!" I said as I changed into a Kendall College sweatshirt. She just stared at me like I was crazy. "Oh you have a field trip to the water park today. That explains a lot." She smiled like the anime characters her and her boyfriend watched together on TV.
"Ok, go get your bag..." She cut me off
"It's already in your car stupid!" She said followed by a giggle. I just smiled a tired smile. I was freezing cold because I was still wearing the ratty sweatpants I wore to bed.
"Do you not know how to start a car? My sister said as she climbed into the backseat. "Calm down Jess, I will get you to school on time." I replied.
"Want Benjamin to ride with us? We have room." I asked her. "Sure why not!" She replied. As we stopped at her boyfriend's house I asked her why she was so hyped for this field trip. "You'll be there for like an hour and practically the whole thing will be riding the bus!"she just brushed me off and looked out the window to see if her beloved Ben was coming, yes he was. The kid was dressed in worse apparel than me, with a long mop of hair touching his shoulders.
"Hey guys!" He said as cheerfully as he could. "What's up?" I replied, "not much, just boredom." We all laughed as my car began to drive. The windows were frosted for some reason, how it was the middle of summer and even in Michagan we don't get this cold at the end of the year.
"Man it's cold. Who wants coffee?" A resounding sound of approval came from the back.
