Hi im Abel, drenched in sweat in this burning summer but here beside me is my airhed of a friend named Leah thats full of energy despite the weather.
"Aren't you tired Leah?" I asked
"Get a grip Bel, its early in the morning and you're like a walking zombie already." She said as she laughs at me.
"Unlike you im conserving my energy and i refrain myself from doing useless motion."
"You're just lazy Bel." She said with a disappointed face.
We are the exact opposite of each other yet we are very close despite our differences im lazy and top of our grade. On the other hand, this girl right here is always running wild and is one of the lowest scorers in our school. Oh, and another thing i forgot to mention im hopelessly in love with her.
At school people see also see us as an opposite of one another yet they are amazed how close we are. I guess the saying "opposites attract each other" is true. I only knew what they thought since Leah told me. They could never approach me or rather they dont want to.
"Arent you glad you have me?" Leah asked with a big grin on her face.
"Yeah yeah... sure I am".
At lunch...
"Hey Bell... teach me pleaseee, midterms are coming Mr. Reyes will scold me again"
"And you think i dont have to study for our exams"
"You're the top of our grade you'll do just fine even if you dont study. Pretty please."
"Sigh... Alright, but in exchange could we... hang out a bit after midterms are over."
"Sureee!!! What a win-win situation for me i was already planning to do that after midterms but ok. No takebacks" she said while smiling so bright.
"You know you should smile less or someday you might kill me with that smile of yours." I whispered to myself.
"Hmm...? You saying something Bell?"
Nothing. Lets study at my place, Mom and Dad are away on a trip.
Later that night...
*knock* *knock*
"Bel!!! Its meeee!!!! Im he-"
"Shut up Leah, its night already and come inside"
"Have you eaten yet? I cooked dinner, lets eat first. We cant have an idiot studying while she's hungry right?"
*Smack* "Huh!?!? The hell you saying!?!? Got a problem with me!?!? Huh!?!? Beansprout."
"Nothing boss, im sorry..."
....
"Hey, no.23 to 27 is wrong Leah"
"Oh.. my bad Bel"
She was rocking the chair while answering which led her to fall. Gladly i was able to catch her. But....
"Hey! Be careful idiot." What the heck is that im touching something soft.
She let out a small moan as i try to squish and know what i was touching.
"Stop... Bel..."
" Ahh!!! Leah im sorry i didnt notice"
"Its fine. But i have to go home now its already getting late. See you tomorrow Bel."
"Im so sor-" before i finished my apology she ran away.
That night i wasnt able to forget the sensation i felt. I had a blush on my face and couldnt even blink.
"So those were that soft..."
Tomorrow at school...
Whenever i try to approach her she'd run away full speed. She'd make up excuses like being called by the teacher just to avoid me.
"Hey Leah, Im sorr-".
"Bye Bel, I need to do something" thats what i heard all day.
Days passed and i started to just ignore it. Maybe she doesnt need me anymore. Its fine she can handle herself anyways, Im just a nuisance.
Days...
Weeks....
Months...
How long has it been? My mind ponders and my heart feels alone.
"That's right. Leah was the one who gave color to my world. No one really approached me because i look gloomy. It was Leah who saved me. That's why I fell for her."
As i was walking home, right before my eyes i saw Leah with someone at the back of the school.
"What are they doing?" I thought to myself.
I heard the boy asked. "Leah, I wanted to ask you if you wanted to go on a date?".
"Wow, my dude's so straightforward i cant do that. Wait enough about that he's confessing to the girl i love"
As i was thinking that. I also thought aint it fine? I mean, she'll be happier with someone like him rather than someone like me. If it brings her happiness. Im satisfied with it, but deep down in my heart i felt broken. But, there was nothing i could do.
As i was about to leave i heard her say.
"Im sorry. There is already someone i like."
"Could i ask who the lucky guy is?" The boy asked Leah.
It was the day i could never forget because she answered my name. To think that our feeling was mutual.
"Bel? As in our highest ranking student in the exams? The gloomy dude?"
"Yeah. And what about him?" She asked.
"I mean there are plenty of guys and you chose to fall in love with a zombie?"
"Dont you badmouth Bel. He's a dozen times better than you. Atleast he doesnt badmouth others and has a better personality."
He stood there while sighing and with a disgusted face. He pushed Leah through the wall. As soon as i saw this I was hesitant. He was big and bulky what am i compared to him. Then suddenly I remembered something important. It was her who saved me. So what the hell am I waiting for. I immediately ran towards him in hopes to free Leah. As he fell down i grabbed her and we ran as fast as we could till we were out of breath.
"Bel!?!?, where the heck did you come from!?!?"
"Wait? Did you hear what i said earlier about you? Wait that w-."
"Oh shut up!" I suddenly said that as i grabbed her hand, pulled her towards me and kissed her.
"I love you damn it. I know that im lazy, gloomy, the only thing i have worth mentioning is my brain. But even though im all of this i love you. I love you Leah!!!"
That day i could also never forget how embarrassed we were as i confessed and kissed here in the street. People were taking a video of my confession and were shouting for my success. But i didnt care about that in the midst of all the noise I could only hear her voice as she said.
"I love you too, dummy."
The crowd cheered and congratulated us. It was the happiest day of my life.
And that my son is how me and your mother met. Isnt that right honey?
Yeah dear, now lets eat dinner shall we?
A gloomy lazy guy like me got a beautiful and energetic girl that made me the luckiest man in the world.
