Things that we do

Sheets are strewn across the bed. I can smell the sweet smell of Tempany's house. I rise out of the warm bed and head downstairs.

Tempany's reading on the couch, while Raina is in the kitchen holding a heaping pile of food, and cramming some into her mouth. Tempany's eyes follow mine.

I sit down on the couch next to Tempany flashing a cheesy grin.

"Look Sawyer, your not go and tell people about us, are you?"

I try not to laugh. Who would I tell that would believe me? "No. Come on, Tempany. Let's do something today." I grab her hand to pull her up. I put my arm around her shoulder making her giggle.

The only place I would ever go with Tempany now is the fire station. I hope this reminds her of what happened last time. As we pull to a stop in the deserted area, I turn my body to face her.

"Tempany."

Gorgeous innocent blue eyes stare back at me. This frighten doe is not a girl I have ever seen. I stare at her hard, trying to read her. I glance at her lips, then back at her eyes. I quickly brush her lips with mine.

And all she does is blankly stare.

"Tempany, I like you a lot. There's no way I would ever tell."

She opens the door, getting out and leaves it open.

I run after her.

"Sawyer?"

"Why are you running away?"

"I need to show you something! Hurry!"

She leads me down paths, jumping over fallen trees and branches, her hair blurs in the forest. In that moment I could really believe that she could be a wolf and I didn't care. The girl I love is a wolf and I didn't care.

I think I'm losing my mind.

But I don't stop. I follow her every move. She suddenly stops. Tempany looks around breathless.

"Okay, be a little quieter."

We come to a clearing in the forest. We are pretty deep in. I look up the trees reaching high above me.

"So is this your home away from home?"

"Yeah," she pauses deciphering her words, "Sawyer, I've wanted to show you this place for awhile. And I want to explain some things about everything." We sit down together on the clearing. "When you first met me I hadn't turned yet. I had seen my brother change and it scared me because it seemed so painful. I found out it was. Your skin grows thicker fur and your bones become smaller. So, I was dreading the time I turned. But being a wolf is so much fun. Your senses and sight are better. I basically live two lives. Every winter I vanish to the woods, that's why I switched to home school because it so much easier. People thought it was cause that I didn't want to snort coke anymore but that's only half of the truth."

"How do people become wolves?"

"There's something in a wolf's saliva that enters a persons body weird. It changes them somehow. But a werewolf can mate with a full wolf and eventually a wolf can't change back to a human."

I take her hand in mine gently squeezing her dainty hand. I look in those blue orbs and just want to be with her, really be with her. She looks into my eyes and for the first time I know she likes me back.

"You ready?" I ask.

"Yeah."

"Ladies first." I say.

The way back is long and silent. It's only Saturday, so reality of school will be back. I sigh.

"Tempany, thank you for bringing me here."

I go to her side of my truck to let her in but to my surprise she kisses me. I kiss her hard, our lips in synch with each other. It's perfect and I don't want her to stop. I push her to side of the car, my right hand pressed to car door, my left gripped on her hip. She gasps for air breaking away. I kiss her jaw, the dip in her shoulder, anywhere I can find. I inch near her ear whispering, "So, are you my girlfriend now?" Before she can answer I pick her up away from car kissing her a swift kiss. I open the door. She gets in with a big smile.

And we drive away.

We return to Raina still stuffing her face.

"What's her problem?"

"What so I can't eat now?" Raina snaps.

Tempany and I sit on the other couch together our legs touching.

"Hand me one, Raina."

We end up stuffing our faces too.

And its the best I've felt just spending time with Tempany.

Late at night, Tempany and I were upstairs in her room. She was under her soft cover while I sat on top of them near the edge of the bed.

"I'll have to go soon, Tempany. Can I call you tomorrow or something?"

"Yeah. I don't know when I'll be up though."

"I'll leave you to sleep, 'kay?" I gently kiss her check. "Night."

"Sawyer?"

"Hmm?" I answer.

"It's a 'yes'."

"What?"

"I'll be your girlfriend."

I grinned so big my jaw hurts quickly. I close her trying to control my excitement.
