Chapter 2: Lone Wolf

"Okay". Just a single word turned the world upside-down. I don't know how to react but here goes nothing.

"Th-thank you very much. I promise you won't regret." I told her nervously.

"Yeah whatever." she said to me with a posed look.

"Hey Nozomi let's go!" the girl shouted to her.

Who is she? Her friend probably. I think they're going to a mixer, I saw they're with other guys. I felt uneasy.

"Hey Jamecchi, what are you doing?" Akari said to me while he was eating a donut.

"Jeez Akarin, you almost scared the shit out of me." I said to him with an angry look.

I looked back and they're gone. I hope could see her again. My heart feels heavy, I feel like I'm gonna have a breakdown. I wanna puke.

"Hey Jamecchi what's wrong? Are you okay? You look pale." Jonathan said that worriedly.

"No, I'm fine. Let's go home." I answered.

"You guys go first, I'm gonna walk Yuzuha home." Jonathan replied.

"Guys, my dad said that he's gonna pick me up. Sorry Jamecchi, you're gonna have to go home alone today. I'll make up to you and buy you a juice tomorrow." Akari said.

"It's fine. You guys take care. I'll be going now." I replied.

"Goodluck on going home alone, Shorty." both said simultaneously.

"Hey take that back asshole!" I shouted angrily while being funny at the same time.

I was the smallest one out of the three of us. I guess I do gotta be careful or else the punks will think I'm in middle school.

"Alone again huh." I whispered to myself.

As I was walking, I was looking at the sky while listening to sad jazz music. Listening to it feels like it's the background music of my life. After meeting that girl, I've never felt this lonely in my life. This shit feels bad.

As I got home and opened the door, the house was dark as usual. Nobody's home. Both of them are probably drinking as usual. My parents' favorite was my older brother. Ever since we were kids, everytime we fight, it's always my fault even if he started it. I always got scolded as a kid and nobody comforted me.
My father and my brother are close and everytime they go drinking, they always leave the house dirty and dark. I was the only one who cleans up their mess and if I leave it dirty, my dad always beats me up. I probably should hurry and clean this place.

- After cleaning -

"Whew, finally I'm done. Now I gotta cook dinner." I whispered to myself.

I don't eat the food I cook. It's for those two nut heads that would probably go home at midnight. I only eat cup ramen at dinner but today I don't feel like eating. I'm going to bed early. Maybe I should send the girl a mail.
Nozomu Tachibana huh? That's a beautiful name. I should say hi first.

"Hi. I'm James Miller, 18 years old. I was the one who asked for your email address earlier at the mall. I hope we could know each other a lot better. I'm looking forward to talking to you."

That should do it.

- 3 hours later -

9 pm and still, no replies huh? I guess that's fine. I never really expected much.

What's this? My heart feels a lot heavier than usual. Am I actually sad about not getting a reply? As I was lying in my bed while the room was dark, I looked like a shrimp. I wanted to cry, but I can't produce tears. This shit sucks. What's happening to me?

Then I realized, I said something that I never thought would come out of my mouth.

"I'm lonely."
