Home. Well not really home yet because we’re still in the phantom zone but home. Kara and Alex held on to each other for dear life – as if this all would disappear if either of them loosened their grip. Soon almost all the other super friends joined the hug evidently squashing Kara, almost everyone. Kara raised her head up from the group hug to find her missing piece, and that’s when she found Lena standing to the side fiddling with her hands like she usually did when she felt like she was in an awkward situation.
Kara split from the hug and ran at Lena with a hint of superspeed, burrowing into the Luthor causing the both of them to stumble backward with Lena’s back against one of the many desks. The super looped her arms around the Luthor’s waist and buried her head in the smaller woman’s chest wanting to be as close to her heartbeat as possible.
Everyone around them looked on with knowing looks before redirecting their attention to anything else to give the two privacy. Kara lifted her head for a second to look at the forest green she had been missing for ages before making her face disappear in the pale skin of Lena’s neck. Both women let the tears stream down their faces while Lena sobbed with one hand holding the back of Kara’s head while her free hand gripped the aliens cape.

The team now had a fully recovered Kara and they all decided to celebrate her return the best way… At Al’s Bar for a Karaoke night. Alex kicked it off with a ballad obviously to Kelly while the older Olsen just watched, Brainy and Nia did a duet with one of the recent hits and J’onn decided for his millionth time to belt out a famous Abba song, while managing to sing it off key, when it was Kara’s time the tv was switched off and she walked up to the stage with a guitar in one hand and a stool from the bar in the other. Kara took her place a top the stool while adjusting the mic’s position.
“Hello everyone paying attention to me. Now I know that this isn’t a normal performance as it is with a guitar but this song is conveying everything I can’t say, thank you.”
As the first few cords rang out across the bar, some people stopped paying attention but many others turned their heads toward the stage to watch the odd performance. Kara continued and began whistling.
“Alabama Arkansas,
I do love my ma and pa,
Not the way that I do love you,
Well holy moly me oh my,
You’re the apple of my eye,
Girl I never loved one like you.
“Man, oh man, you’re my best-friend,
I scream it to the nothingness,
There ain’t nothin’ that I need,
Hot and heavy, pumpkin pie,
Chocolate candy jesus christ,
Ain’t nothin’ please me more than you."
Kara looked up and met Lena’s eyes across the bar who was watching intently, and the super paused for a moment, looking back down at the strings before looking back up at Lena as everything else around them faded to grey. Kara leaned back into the microphone while giving Lena a small smile.
“Oh home,
Let me come home,
Home is wherever I’m with you,
Oh home,
Let me come home,
Home is wherever I’m with you."
Kara began whistling again while staring at Lena, watching as the brunette abandoned her scotch and just watched Kara with her mouth partially open and tears brimming those beautiful eyes.
“I’ll follow you into the park,
Through the jungle, through the dark,
Girl I never loved one like you,
Moats and boats and waterfalls,
Alleyways and pay-phone calls,
I’ve been everywhere with you."
Kara lets out a watery laugh and only then does she realise that tears have been streaming down her face, and now noticing that the same has been happening to her favourite person. Now everyone had turned to face the stage, fleeting glances between the two women staring intensely at each other. The hero rose her voice from its near whisper.
“Laugh until we think we’ll die,
Barefoot on a summer night,
Never is sweeter than with you,
And in the streets, you run a-free,
Like it’s only you and me,
Girl you’re something to see."
Kara dragged out that last sentence attempting to convey her deep emotions to the raven-haired beauty sitting in front of her.
“Oh home,
Let me come home,
Home is wherever I’m with you,
Oh home,
Let me come home,
Home is whenever I’m with you."
She lowers her voice to a gentle whisper and slowed down even more.
“Alabama Arkansas,
I do love my ma and pa,
Moats and boats and waterfalls,
Home is when I’m alone with you."
She finished the song with a smile and that’s when she was brought back to the world by everyone’s applause. Kara whispers a small thank you before standing and going to move the stool off the stage but was stopped by a hand on her wrist. She froze before looking up to meet her favourite pair of eyes boring into her own. Lena just stood there frozen with her mouth agape, not knowing what to say. But when you don’t have words just use actions, her actions involved moving her free hand that wasn’t on Kara’s wrist to the nape of her neck, playing with the tendrils of hair there. She paused for a moment before pulling the reporters face toward her own connecting their lips.
Damn Kara’s lips were soft, like pillows. She couldn’t get enough of the taste of her, but oxygen was still a vital part of Lena’s survival, she had to pull away, only to rest her forehead against Kara’s. They both smiled at the many watchers clapping around them even though they were still partially in their own world together. Both knew that they had many things to talk about but for know they were just Kara and Lena, enjoying the Kryptonian’s return, together.
Yes, they were a Luthor and a Super but the opposite of those boys and their sticks.
They would soon be known as the Luthor-Danvers.
