Jada and Maurice hadn't spoken since the almost kiss since they didn't know what to say to each other after what happened. Usually people wouldn't make it awkward but at the same time they were two teenagers who were denying feeling for each other and had almost kissed, exactly they didn't know what to do.

Jada for one had never experienced that before and Maurice had experienced it but not with girls that he typically liked, more like girls that were there just to be there which made it easier for him to forget and talk to them as if nothing ever happened.

But since Maurice actually valued their friendship, he figured he'd be the first to say something to Jada to clear whatever it was over and they could be back talking again because Maurice hated to admit it but his days in Memphis would be boring without Jada.

So know here he was at Jada's door ringing it so that he could talk to her. He sighed before he rung the doorbell waiting for somebody to come to the door. After a while nobody came and he rung it again and to his surprise the woman he wanted to talk to answered it.

She seen who it was and smiled awkwardly allowing him to come inside the house. Nobody was home right now which is why she allowed him in but, she knew limits which is why she decided to keep him downstairs.

Maurice sat on the couch and she sat far away from him with her legs close together while she laid he arms on them looking at him waiting on him to speak. Maurice nervously smiled before opening his mouth, "So... basically I came over here to see if we were still friends." Jada looked at him with squinted eyes, "What do you mean?"

"Now Jada, come on and don't lie you know what almost happened the other day and ever since then you've been ignoring me," Maurice said looking at her while she scratched the back of her neck cause he was right.

"Look I wasn't ignoring you on purpose it was just a 'I needed time to think' thing." Maurice nodded his head and went over to her holding his hand out.

"Still friends?" Jada nodded and took his hand shaking it. "Now that, that is out the way what you been up to?"

The two started talking about what they had been doing while they were out of each other's lives for a small portion. Jada told Maurice about how she landed a job and would soon be making money which would cut her time down.

They could still hang out, but it wouldn't be as frequently. By now it was dark and they were on the floor laughing at a story that Jada was telling him.

"So you mean to tell me that she showed up in nothing but her drawers to make sure that you didn't get kidnapped?"

"Yes my friend, Rae really did that and it scared them away."

"Where is Rae at now?" Maurice looked at Jada and she sighed holding her head down. "She died three years ago in a car accident sadly. When I heard about it I cried like a newborn baby. Her dying really broke my heart." Jada was really sad about it when she first got wind of it, but as the years passed she coped with it thinking less and less about it.

Maurice could notice how sad it made her which is why he lifted her chin up with his fingers to see her face clearly. He was about to give her a speech to make her happy, but instead he got lost in her brown eyes again as she did his.

They were staring at each other for a while before the started to lean in. They were both anticipating the kiss that was long overdue. And they were just about to kiss when a knock on jada's door startled them making them instantly pull away.

Jada sighed, a fucking gain. This time she was actually ready for the kiss and just when they were close something had to ruin it. She went up to the door and unlocked it to see her mother.

"Hey Maurice, came in here to check on yall... yall ain't in here doing nothing funny right," jada's mother asked making the teens nod their heads no. "Okay just making sure and also it's food downstairs so when yall ready to eat fix a plate but clean up after yall sleves. Don't be triflin' " and with that she walked out the room.

Jada and Maurice let out a sigh before Jada locked the door again and went over to the bed while they both stared at the ceiling laying down on their backs.

They were mist definitely thinking about the same thing. The almost kiss that they shared again. It was as if something was wanting them to kiss, but then would think about it and be like nah which would stop them.

The both of them were now wondering why it kept happening as well. They were best friends and best friends didn't kiss unless you were into that kind of stuff and they weren't.

They both were putting it off for the sake of Maurice leaving, but they couldn't deny the attraction towards each other. Neither of them could. Their mind wouldn't allow them to and neither would their friends and families.
