My name is Jen Brighton. I was in search of answers to one of the most macabre and unsolved mysteries of my hometown, Lovegood.
Spanning 50 years, this story has been told and retold, its truth lost long ago between countless and fanciful versions, many times from people unaware of its beginnings. No one wanted to dive into the darkness. No one wanted to poke the unseen monster. And no one wanted to end the simple life of the town, that went on carefree.
But I did.
I wanted to end everything. The lies, the horrors, the unsaid hushes from the elderly, and I wanted to end, most of all, the lurking feeling that something was not right.

For me, and the question that carved like claws into my chest.
