You stood outside of Loki's door, completely shocked at what had just happened. Tears pricked at your eyes and it took all your energy not to give in and cry. You were used to rejection so why did Loki's feel so awful?
Your mind was racing, trying to think of what had gone wrong. Something caught your eye and you looked over to see Tony coming down the hall. Great. You wouldn't know what to do if he had witnessed all that, you hoped he hadn't.
"Hey, kid, what's wrong?"
At least he hadn't seen what had just happened.
"Not now Tony, I just want to go to bed"
Quickly, you went into your room and shut the door. You heard Tony knock, you had expected nothing less from him.
"Go away", you called.
"Can't, I need to talk to you about Avenger protocol"
He wasn't going to leave. You looked in the mirror and saw your face was a little red and your eyes were teary.
"Avenger protocol?" you asked sarcastically as you opened the door.
He pushed right past you and sat down on your bed, probably afraid you'd change your mind about opening the door for him. He looked at you sadly and sighed. You just stood there, with your arms crossed, you didn't want his pity.
"Yeah there's no Avenger protocol we need to talk about, I just wanted you to let me in"
You had guessed that much.
You moved over to the bed and sat down next to him.
"You can talk to me, or any of us, we're all here for you. We're a family and you're part of it now too, like it or not", he smiled at you.
You were really trying to keep it together, you didn't like to cry in front of people. Putting your face in your hands, you groaned.
"It's nothing, I was just being stupid"
"Did Loki do something? Because you know any one of us is just looking for an excuse to kick his ass"
You laughed at this. It made you feel good to know he had your back.
"No offense but I'm not sure if you could win that fight", you teased.
"Woah", Tony said dramatically, "you just bruised my ego, I'm out of here". He nudged you playfully.
He then got serious and put his hand on your shoulder.
"For real, kid, are you okay?"
You sighed.
"Yeah, I'm fine", you looked up at him and gave him a sad smile.
He looked like he wanted to say more but just sighed.
"Alright, you know where to find me if you need anything", he said before walking out the door.
Once the door shut you tried to cry, but oddly enough no tears came.
...
It had been three days since Loki had told you that he didn't want to talk anymore. You felt awful about it but were trying to keep yourself busy. You had been training with Nat for hours each day and now felt very confident in your abilities. On top of that, Tony had been showing you how to use all your tech and gadgets.
You had barely seen Loki the past few days, he had been hiding out in his room. The only times you saw him was when he came out for food, but it was awkward and you both avoided each other.
