I was sitting on my balcony wondering if I would ever leave these palace walls. I heard my mother call my name. "Anastasia! Where are you?" I quickly ran inside and locked the balcony door. "Anastasia, there you are, what are you doing up here?" I slowly turned around, "Oh nothing mother, just looking out the window" I put my hand on the stained window. "Isn't it beautiful outside, darling?" I nodded my head yes, and looked down. "Is something wrong my dear?" I looked at my mother, "No mother..." She looked out the window, "It's just, why won't you let me go outside?" She looked at me with an astonished face, she looked offended. "Why would you even ask me that?" she looked from the window, her red eyes looking directly at me. "I don't know mother, I was just wondering" she slapped me across the face and pointed at me, "never ask me that again" she walked away, her heels clomping on the tile floor. My mother loved me but she always had a weird way of showing it. My mother's name is Keres, it means goddess of night. I've always believed in greek mythology but my mother told me it was an old tale. I always found a connection with the gods and goddesses, I feel like I can relate to them. Zeus I always found interesting. His story is very tragic. Zeus had to defeat his brother, Hades, but Hades' child, defeated Zeus and took Zeus's child, who is living amongst the humans. Hade's child is unknown. But like mother said, it's just an old tale. "Anastasia, dinner is ready!" my mother called from the kitchen. "What's for dinner?" I asked, "Mushroom soup, I tried a new recipe, I hope you like it" I was nervous to eat it, usually mother's recipes are horrible. I took a slow bite, and to my surprise... it wasn't good. "Well, how is it?" I didn't spit out the soup I just... kept it in my mouth. "You don't like it do you?" I spit my soup out "No, I'm sorry mother" she patted my shoulder "that's ok, you're just an ungrateful little brat.?" She grabbed my ear and pulled me up to my room. "Tomorrow I am leaving to go on a 5-day trip, go outside you will regret everything." She slammed the door and I heard her heel clomps get quieter and quieter until I couldn't hear them anymore. I cried for a while until I fell asleep.
