"So, what do you think?"
He whipped around, almost spilling his water. There she was, beaming up at him. God, she smelled nice. Was her presence always this warm? Since when did her smile make his body shiver? Fuck, did she say something?
"Uh.."
"Of your suit, dumbass. Do you like it?" Without warning, she grabbed his hips and spun him around to get a better look, checking him out shamelessly. "Damn. Even if you don't like it, I definitely do. Suits you well. Does it feel okay?"
"It's fine," he grumbled, going to take another sip of his water only to realize it was empty. He was using every ounce of his strength not to look at her chest. His eyes ached with the resistance.
"Excuse me! Waitress! Where's my champagne?" Some old man whistled rudely to get Y/N's attention, interrupting their conversation.
Bakugou growled. "The fuck did you just say to her?" He started walking towards the man, clearly about to throw hands, but Y/N grabbed his arm to hold him back. "Waitress? You're talking to one of the best engineers in the goddamn field--"
"Bakugou, it's okay," she whispered to him, then cleared her throat and turned back to the old man. "Kindly fuck off, sir. I'm not a waitress."
Bakugou cackled at her response, reveling in the sight of the asshole turning red and grumbling before turning to find someone else to bother.
"Best in the field, huh? How sweet," she teased.
"I said one of. Fuck off," he grumbled, his cheeks feeling warm again.
She waved her hand dismissively. "Whatever, Dynamight. Have you seen Hawks?"
His stomach flipped at the question, anger rising in his throat. "What, looking for another hookup?"
The minute the words left his mouth, he regretted it.
"What?" The way she said it told him he was not supposed to respond. "Are you... are you trying to slut shame me or some shit?"
"I mean, Hawks? Really Y/N?" Why are you doing this? You're ruining everything, he thought to himself.
Y/N gaped at him. "Are you serious right now?" Her voice cracked at the last word.
He didn't respond. His mind screamed at him to respond, to say anything, but he didn't know what. He stood there silently like an idiot. He knew how much of a jerk he looked like right now, but he couldn't bring himself to say anything to refute it.
It was too late though. Y/N was hurt.
"I thought we were friends, man. But you don't get to make me feel bad for that shit. Not okay."
She stared at him, waiting for a response that never came. He couldn't look her in the eye.
"Forget it." She turned and walked away, leaving him more angry at himself than he'd ever been.
He made his way back to the his table, ignoring the old men trying to start conversations with him, and sat back down in his chair with a huff.
"Alright, what happened?" Kirishima asked, scooting his chair closer to his friend.
Bakugou was about to snap at him, but couldn't find the energy. "Doesn't fucking matter. It's over now." He looked up at the crowd, his eyes falling on Kaminari and Jirou who were now flirting with each other. They were standing so close they were almost kissing, and for some reason it hurt to look at. Guilt and jealousy were clouding his mind too heavily. He wished that could've been him and Y/N.
It almost had been. How did he fuck that up so hard? He had just wanted to find out if her and Hawks were still an item, if she still wanted him. It had come across so poorly that he grimaced thinking about it.
"Yikes," Kirishima muttered. Bakugou looked to see what he was talking about, and when he saw, a new wave of anger flooded through him.
Y/N and Hawks were in the corner. Hawks was leaning his elbow on the wall above her shoulder, his other hand holding her arm.
Bakugou felt his body burning from the inside out with jealousy. Don't fucking touch her. His hands were formed in such tight fists that his fingers screamed at him to stop, but he couldn't look away. His body clenched watching them chat. Y/N said something that made Hawks laugh, and he had taken that opportunity to move closer to her.
Hawks finished their conversation and planted a small kiss on the top of her head before striding away, a small smile on his face.
"I'm sorry dude," Kirishima said sadly, reaching a hand out to place on Bakugou's shoulder, but Bakugou yanked away and got up to leave.
