You exhaled and pushed yourself back a little bit in your wheeled chair. The wheels creaked gently and the back of the chair thumped against the wall behind you. You couldn't believe you had done it! You thought your exhausted state would have made you have to take it all home to do! But alas, it seemed even you could do something if and when you put your mind to it.
Scooping up the completed write-ups, you slipped out of your office and made your way to Nedzu's office. He'd want to see the latest reports on the students who had lately suffered a possibly traumatic experience out on the field, or campus.
As you arrived at his office, you could see the principal was sitting inside and talking to a pair of adults. From what you saw, it looked to be the first-year hero course teachers. So, not wanting to cause an interruption, you merely slipped the folder of write-ups under the door and made your way out.
You had one final responsibility after all and thus needed to get over there as soon as possible. The hallways were filled with students heading out for the day, some talking about going shopping at the local mall or going back to the dorms to play video games or watch movies together. Your mood started picking up thanks to their positive emotions.
By the time you reached where you needed to be, the hallways were practically empty. You entered a room and spied the few students who you saw on a near-daily basis, and not for crisis reasons.
"Good afternoon, sensei." One smiled towards you, pausing on polishing the brass instrument in their hands.
"Hi, sensei!" Another called, taking a violin out of its case.
All your other students stopped getting out their musical instruments and gave you a greeting. You replied to every one of them, smiling brightly. It seemed the music club was as active and friendly as usual, and you loved every minute of it.
UA might have a reputation of being one of the best hero schools in the country, but that didn't mean it also wasn't a regular high school. While hero course students were often busy with hero course assignments and hero agency internships, the rest of the school, especially those in general studies, had the opportunity to join clubs. And you just so happened to be the staff advisor of the music club.
It was a rather small club, as not many students played an instrument at UA, but the members you had were always kind and social. It was made up of mostly general studies students, but you'd have the odd business course join every so often. This year even brought along a first-year support student and a first-year hero student who would come when and if they had the time. In total, if all students would show up, you'd have about ten. But on average, you would have three to four students per day for this after-school club.
You usually didn't do much aside from making sure the students didn't break anything or hurt themselves. You'd watch and listen to them play and even play a little yourself when they asked you to. Today was no different, as the four students you had today were practicing and laughing together.
You had started dusting off the grand piano that sat in the club room, listening in now and then. A smile on your face, glad to feel the positive emotions in each one of them. Your quirk might be invasive at times, but it settled your heart to see your students so happy and so at ease.
Suddenly the mood in the room shifted and a feeling of confusion and curiosity came upon the students around you. You blinked, looking up at your students. They were looking towards the door to the room, having a hushed conversation.
"Who's that?" One asked.
"She's way too young to be a UA student..." Another said.
"Maybe she's a teacher's kid?" One suggested.
You turned to look at the door and paused a moment. A small girl with snow-white hair and strawberry-red eyes was peeking in shyly. She wore a frown on her features and had an air of nerves around her. Her lips quivered and you immediately came forward.
The little girl stiffened when you came near and you smiled gently. Your quirk activated gently, creating a sensation of ease and friendliness as you knelt to the girl's level.
"Are you lost?" You asked her.
She nodded slowly, eyes slowly welling up. You used your quirk a bit more, stopping her tears. You reached out a hand and the little girl looked at you.
"Well... how about we play on the piano until your guardian comes and finds you?"
You watched as her eyes went wide and she looked between you and the piano behind you. Gently, she took your hand and nodded. You led the little girl to the piano and helped her up onto the seat.
She looked very interested in the instrument, touching the white keys, but not pressing down on them. You watched her and after a few moments started to play. The little girl watched you in awe, having never seen someone play such an instrument before.
After a few minutes, you stopped and looked at her with a kind smile. Your students by now had gone back to their work and thus left you to watch over the little girl without stressing her out too much.
"Your turn." You chuckled.
"M-me?" She muttered and you nodded.
Slowly, if not shyly, the girl started to play. It was mostly her hitting random keys, but as she got into it, a smile came onto her lips and she started to play with more enthusiasm. It looked like she was enjoying herself.
Time passed quickly after that moment of joy. The little girl and yourself played random made-up songs and she looked to be getting into the piano. Soon, the club ended and your students were leaving. As they did so, someone else wandered in. He looked a bit annoyed, but having known your fellow staff member for a few years, this was just how he looked due to the constant exhaustion he felt.
"There you are, Eri," Aizawa spoke, looking slightly relieved.
"Aizawa!" Eri cried, and motioned towards the piano. "I'm learning to play!"
Aizawa smiled gently. "I can see that. You didn't cause (Last Name)-san any trouble though, right?"
You waved Aizawa off. "She was a delight. You're the one disturbing our lesson, Aizawa-san."
Aizawa sighed and looked towards Eri. "You scared Mirio. He couldn't find you and came looking for me. We should go and find him so he knows you're safe and sound."
Eri frowned, but got down from the seat after a moment. You could feel her sadness for having to leave but knew she also felt a desire to find Mirio and show she was fine. Before the little girl and Aizawa could wander off though, you cleared your throat and caught the attention of them both.
"Eri-chan, you're welcome anytime." You smiled. "So come by when you'd like another lesson and when Aizawa-san lets you."
Eri's eyes lit up and she excitedly looked towards Aizawa. He sighed and shook his head, but ended up cracking a smile. Eri bounced excitedly, dragging him out of the room. She spoke eagerly of telling Mirio and Deku about what she learned today. Aizawa spoke back to her, saying he was happy she had such a wonderful day.
You merely smiled gently, moving back to the piano. You had heard that Aizawa was taking care of a child, but now having met her... she was rather adorable. You could only hope she'd come back soon, and that one day soon, Aizawa could listen to the tiny little maestro she was becoming so very quickly.
