Summer time. My favourite time of year in London. I love how the flowers give colour to the world. I love how the leaves are lit by the golden sun.

Let's be honest, it's a lot better than winter! Even though I'm a sucker for hot chocolate while watching a movie near the fire, I just love the warmth and happiness the sun brings to everyone. The outfits, the staying out late, the warm nights, everything a 16 year old girl wants and needs. Especially hanging out with my friends.

My friend Millie Partridge is my best friend. We have known each other since we were 4 years old. We met when i moved into my house. She lived next to me and our parents introduced us to each other. I was a very shy child and she wasn't, i had always admired that she was so confident and could speak to literally anyone.

I remember the first day we met. I stood behind my dad's leg and barely looked at her. She then came over to me and showed me her favourite doll. She asked me if i wanted to play and eventually i said yes. From then on we have been inseparable. I can't tell you how many horrible baby pictures we have together, they're not pretty!

We have always known the Partridges, ever since my parents moved in next door we've always been as close as family! I spent most days at Millie's and she spent most days at Mine. Me and Millie practically grew up together we were like sisters. I could trust her with my life. Her parents are like my second Mum and Dad. They would always look after me when my Dad went away.

Millie has two siblings: Issie (who was like my older sister) and Louis. Issie was never here, she attended university in New Castle and only came home for the half-terms, we didn't see her often. Then there was Louis, I didn't know him very well, he made it easy to ignore him. He wasn't interested in me and I wasn't interested in him. He was just Millie's older brother and that was it.

The day started like no other, I got ready for the day, brushed my teeth, and made my way over to Millie's. I didn't need to knock as I had my own key to her house, it was normal for us. We were as close as family that we never felt there was a need to knock or ask. Sometimes I would wake up with Millie downstairs making me breakfast while I'm still sleeping. I'm sure she would be there way before I woke up.

Entering the wooden gate that led to Millie's house, I stepped on to the large porch, as I peeped around the corner the whispers of a deep smooth male voice got louder, but I couldn't help notice a feminine giggle getting louder too. As I bent my head round the corner I soon realised, it was Louis and his girlfriend.

I awkwardly smiled. His almond eyes locked with mine. He stared at me intensely for what seemed like an hour. My heart was pounding, but i didn't know why.

He uttered "Millie's up stairs." and continued to walk towards the door, it was like i didn't exist, but it had always been like that. To him I had always been one of Millie's friends and that was it. I didn't mind it like that, it was normal.

I made my way up the stairs to save myself from even more embarrassment.

In the lounge Millie's mum and dad (Emma and Steve) were watching TV. I said hello to them both and caught up with how they were doing. I was so lucky to have Emma and Steve in my life they had always looked after me and treated me like i was their second daughter. After what seemed minutes of small talk i think the conversation was coming to an end.

E: "biscuits and anything you want are downstairs, help yourself darling."

Y: "Thank you"

S: "How's the football going kiddo?"

He would always call me kiddo.

Y: "It's going well thank you."

S: "Maybe we could both come and watch you?"

Y: "Yes I would love that!"

Steve and Emma would always make time for me. I think it was partly because my dad sometimes wasn't here, so they would make effort to do the things he sometimes wouldn't be able to.

After leaving the lounge I slowly crept towards Millie's white bedroom door. Touching the floor boards ever so slightly just to see if they would make a noise. My feet reached the entrance, I swung the door open and gave my loudest boo!

She didn't budge.

Not one bit.

Disappointed, I whined "would it kill you to just pretend I scared you?"

M: "and why would i do that?"

Y: "UHH.... i don't know, maybe cause you're my friend and that's what friends do?"

She chuckled.

Giggling, I jumped into her double bed and snatched the flicker from her bedside table.

"right then, what are we watching?"

She laughed.

A few hours had passed, now that we had binged another four episodes of The Vampire Diaries I decided that it may be a good time to get productive. Hesitantly, she agreed. The park was always the first place we would go to if we wanted a day out. The sun would always set perfectly through the trees.

Standing up, I pulled Millie's reluctant ass out of her bed. Without any effort from Millie and a workout from me she was finally able to stand and we made our way to the her back door.

After 5 hours of Millie trying to put her shoes on, she had finally managed to have them on her feet. We finally made our way to the back door. What I liked about The Partridge's house was they had a porch area that was surrounded by a tall fence, me and Millie would spend most of summer on her outside furniture. Laying on it just so we could get a tan. I would never get one as i burnt easier then toast. So while shes looking like a bronzed goddess i would look like a freshly picked tomato.

Walking out of the gate door throwing my keys from hand to hand, I dropped them onto the floor.  After picking them up and making my way back up from my squat I felt a tall person bump into me, I felt two hands grab gently on my arms steadying me. Looking up I realised I had bumped into one of Louis' friends, William Franklyn-miller, he gently smiled and asked me if I was okay. I wasn't, a very handsome boy had just bumped into me.

I smiled and replied "yes, i'm fine thank you."

He reassuringly nodded and continued to walk onto the front porch.

The door flings open and Louis walks out to greet his friend. As they approach each other they greet with a massive hug and say hello. Soon after, Louis steps inside, and as I'm about to leave Will's eyes lock with mine.  Slowly, he looks me up and down and subtly smirks and continues to walk inside. I smile back.
