She was one with the night.
One with the dark sky,
A Child of the Moon.
The Moon called her out like the song of a siren.
Resonating through the oceans,
Sweet like a mother.
It meant no harm.
It simply wanted to be admired too.
It felt sad that when came her time to shine,
All eyes were closed.
Even though it silently did so many things.
Regulated our tides,
Regulated our seasons,
Regulated our days.
It silently did so much.
And so it chose people who do the same to be her Children.
In the silence of the night,
Only then would their light openly come out,
Burning with affinity.
Making her one with the night.
Applauded by a galaxy of stars,
That told her:
"Welcome, ô sweet creature.
Your heart now beats with ours.
Your light now shines alongside ours.
Your smile is now our happiness.
Welcome,
To the Children of the Moon."

Child of the Moon
PoetryThis is a poem I wrote when I was incapable of falling asleep, while looking at the beautiful Moon outside. If you struggle to sleep too... I hope this soothes you a little.
