In the beginning Demons roamed the earth, Angels were sent down and fought the demons and locked them in another realm between this reality and hell, and they can never cross into the human's reality. Then demons discovered that in this in between realm they could darken the souls of humans and affect the real world, even possess humans to do as they wanted. Because of this Angels gave their power to a select few of humans that can cross over into the in between realm and kill the demons or send them back to hell. They became known as "Slayers of Demons." They were worshipped like gods. Now adays people have forgotten about the "Slayers," and the demons that run amok, but they are still there. Centuries of generations later living amongst every human and fighting demons in the in between realm.
The slayers in this time are now very civil, they have councils and an organized democracy. They have professionals, apprentices, and secret societies; it is more like a job than just killing demons.
Isabella (A.K.A Izzy), born of a slayer mother and her absent father a phoenix demon. Izzy is a balance of both Angel and Demon. The demons would want to obtain this power and the council of slayers would want her dead. Izzy's mother kept her hidden from both by placing a seal on her wrist that kept Izzy human for as long as possible, but she knows it won't last forever. With Izzy getting older and stronger the seal weakens until it will eventually break.
This is where are story begins. Izzy's seal has been weakening and she has been having visions of hell and demons through the in between realm. Her mother only tells her and the people she could trust a slight truth, she says that she is not a half-demon but that she is Cursed by a demon. Lies that she could become possessed by the inner demon when she is her actual demon. Her mother lied to her closest friends because she thought they would turn on her and try and kill Izzy. When Izzy knows the truth, she goes into the in between realm and meets Cain, one of the first demons. Izzy's mother fights Cain but she knows she can't win. Izzy tries to fight but unable to control her powers she accidentally kills her mother while brutally injuring Cain. Cain promises to return for her, but Izzy is safe for now.
Izzy moves to a secret location and is kept locked up by one of her mothers' friends. He trains her to become a slayer. Her older siblings come join her to keep her safe. As well as she gets her own bodyguard to watch her when outside the locked down location. Izzy feels trapped as if she is helpless and her family and friends are willing to sacrifice themselves for the sake of her. Izzy will not let anyone she loves to die for her again. Her family and friends try to find away to cast the demon out of her without killing her, but to no avail. Her bodyguard has another idea of using the demonic powers to her own advantage.
Cain comes back to get Izzy just when she thought she could be normal again. Her family and friends tell her to run but she knows she can't; she knows that Cain is the reason her mother is not alive. Izzy fights the demon Cain with what skills she possesses. Cain drags her into hell, but she escapes and finally kills the demon Cain avenging her mother.
This is when the council gets involved and discovers Izzy. They put her and her family on trial. And lock her up in a cell. The council decides to kill Izzy, that a disgusting creature like her need not exist. They attempt to kill Izzy but she survives. Izzy fights back and kills the main member of the slayer council that sentenced her to death. Izzy discovers that her mother lied to her and that she is half demon and runs away looking for her father.
