"Stupid phone." I mumble to myself.

Someone slid into the seat across from me, and I looked up, surprised.

A cute boy who looked about my age grinned back at me. He had aggressively bright yellow hair with a black streak cutting through the front. He was wearing a leather jacket with a few pins, and dark jeans. He also had a choker.

The boy unzipped his jacket and proudly showed me a tee that had the surprised pikachu on it.

"You look like a Pokémon Go avatar. Who's super obsessed with pikachu." I blurt out. I purse my lips together, trying not to giggle at the vivid image of a pikachu riding on his shoulder that was now forming in my head.

This is why you never make new friends, I scold myself. If you manage to get past the awkwardness and say something, it's either rude or weird. This is why the only people you date are douches who are just using you. Maybe this guy is a potential love intrest? You know who would treat me right? Mina. I barely know her but she- What am I saying?

I prefer texting. It gives me time to think of replies and it was harder to say something spontaneous because you had to type it.

"What level?"

"What?" I wasn't sure I'd heard right. I honestly thought he'd have left.

"What level trainer do I look like?"

"Um. High." I said, and he laughed.

"I'm Denki Kaminari. Only a little obsessed with Pikachu. Nice to meetcha."

"Satoko Abiko. More of a Mudkip girl myself."

Kaminari chuckled, stood to get his drink from the barista and knocked my phone to the ground in the process. He bent down and picked it up.

"It's not cracked! 'Tis dead." He said, sitting back down. "I have the same one and it should glow when it's lifted. Either that or I broke it, uhh..."

"Nah, it wasn't plugged in last night."

"Damn, that blows. I could charge it for you."

"There are no outlets," I point out.

Kaminari winked. He pulled a charging cable from his pocket and plugged one end into my phone. He casually put the other end in his mouth.

I may be a loner, but I'm not dumb. "Oh, you have an electric type quirk." Now I understand where the pikachu vibes were coming from.

"Yeah. It might be the only reason my friends keep me around." He joked.

His yellow eyes darted up to mine for the millionth time, and I sigh. "You're wondering about my eyes, right?"

The boy took the cable out of his mouth to talk.

"They're really pretty. What's your quirk?"

"It's called Ombré. My eyes shift colors every second. They don't just switch, they just fade really fast...you know, ombré. Pretty straight forward."

Kaminari stared at her wondrously. "It looks like they're sparkling."

"That's just the sheen from the colors changing so quickly. There's a pattern, actually. Reds, yellows, and oranges in the morning, like now, then greens blues and purples in the afternoon."

"What about grey, white, and black? No love for goths?"

I chuckled nervously. "My mom forced me to filter those out. It's a habit now."

Kaminari nodded like this made sense. "Does it affect your vision? Like drunk goggles?"

"Drunk goggles- what? No. I've been told I see colors better than everyone, and an entirely new color. Everyone thought I was crazy when my quirk manifested and I started rambling on about the pretty-"

I was interrupted by someone knocking on the window near them. He had red hair and was dressed in jeans, a zebra print tee, and a striped, unbuttoned flannel. He also had a purse. He looked like the type of person who'd call it something like "a manly satchel."

Somehow, it worked, so it wasn't too bad, even if he did look like a dad.

One guy with round elbows and another that looked like he could literally explode any second now are standing behind him. Round-elbows was smiling, but the weight of the angry one's glare was freaking me out. I feel like he's plotting my death.

Kaminari gestured at the boys and handed me back my phone. It wasn't fully charged, because they'd talked, but it was as 69%. Judging by his meme shirt, I'd say he did it on purpose.

I like him already.

"Hey, Satoko. I lost my number. Can I have yours?" He shot finger guns at me and made a pop sound with his mouth. I giggled.

"Only if you promise not to use that line again." I replied, accepting his phone and typing in my contact information. It's not like he was dangerous, probably. He had a UA pin- that famous hero school, so he must be a pretty chill guy. Plus, one of my best friends I'd never even met-

Best friends? Is that how I see Mina? Is that weird? We've only known each other for a week. That's pathetic.

"A high price, but for you, m'lady, I-"

I handed him his phone back before he could finish that sentence. "Your friends seem very eager to see you. Um, and can you ask the blonde guy if he's doing okay?" I giggled nervously when said blonde guy made a slicing-your-throat gesture.

"Oh, Bakugo? That's just him."

With that, Kaminari gave me a fist bump and left.
