Oakridge High School
WINTER- 2000

Like any other sneaky high school couple you and Amala were hiding out in the schools south auditorium. It was your free period but Amala was skipping her Trigonometry class. It's not like she needed to be in there anyway. Being a junior in high school and taking Trigonometry is unbelievable. Amala is incredibly smart. She just makes really dumb decisions sometimes. Both of you are juniors she just a one year older that you. Her being 17 and you being 16.

Everyone call you the 'it' couple. Both you and Amala were well known around the school. But being in the crowd wasn't y'all's thing.

" Aight so what you think about living in a big ass mansion in Calabasas. With the U-shaped driveway that you always wanted. That Mercedes parked parked in the driveway beside my car. Our 3 kids running around the house and you chasing after them" she looks over at you and you roll your eyes

Amala loves to foreshadow things. That's a good thing though. It always makes you smile. To hear her wanted to plan a future with you makes you ecstatic.

" As amazing as that sounds Amala. How are we going to have all that? Don't get me wrong I would love to have it. And I'm not having three kids" you tell her

She sits ups and take your hand in hers
" Don't worry about all that baby. I really do want you to know that I'm serious. I got you, always. Don't forget that Aight?" She has that look in her eyes

That look that you could never read. Never understand. But that one look in particular didn't sit well with you.

" I won't forget. I promise." She smiles and kisses me. Pulling way from one another she drags her thumb across my bottom lip.

" Soo have you thought about what college you want to go too?" You ask and she sighs. She never really liked having this conversation. Amala didn't plan to go to college. She had her own plans after high school that didn't consist of going to college

" No, I haven't. Y/n I told you that I don't want to go to college. I got everything figured out. " she told you

" What are you going to do, Amala? You're incredibly smart and I don't want all that intelligence that you have go to waste. "

" It's not. I want to have my own business. I won't have to work for nobody. They would work for me. It would bring in a lot of money. While you go off to FAMU and do your thing with nursing like you've always dream I'll be chasing my dreams. Then after you graduate we could do what ever we want." She says
