A lot, I mean a lot of writers here on Wattpad think that these two are the same. Well, sad to say they're NOT THE SAME. Read on to know the difference between the two.
• BLURB •
A BLURB is a short description of your story. It should show the readers what makes your story stand out from all the other stories na katulad nito. It should spark the interest of your readers, but it shouldn't give anything away.
Usually, makikita ang blurb ng isang novel or story sa back cover nito. Ito 'yong 'DESCRIPTION' na makikita mo kapag gumawa ka ng panibagong story dito sa Wattpad. Ito 'yong makikita mo sa Amazon or Goodreads para magkaroon ka ng idea about sa story.
Your blurb should NOT contain SPOILERS.
It should make your readers go, 'Ooh, I fancy reading this one.' And usually, around 15-300 words lang ang blurb, though may iba na sumo-sobra sa word count na 'yan, but it's okay as long as ma-meet nito ang mga nabanggit sa taas.
• SYNOPSIS •
SYNOPSIS summarizes your whole story. Dapat nilalaman nito ang details sa story mo, character growths, detailed explanation of your theme and tone, and your plot overview.
Usually, a synopsis is the one that you pass to your publishers, agent, or editor if you want them to know what your manuscript is about. These people don't have the time to read the entirety of your manuscript.
Let's take this, publishing companies receive hundreds of manuscripts daily. Sa tingin mo ba ay maglalaan sila ng ilang oras, araw o linggo, para lang basahin at i-dissect ang kabuuan ng manuscript mo? Of course not.And that's why synopsis exists.
And that's why, your synopsis should CONTAIN SPOILERS. Oo, kailangan nakalagay ang spoilers ng story mo sa isusulat mong synopsis, at kasama doon kung sino ang protagonist pati na rin ang ending ng kwentong isinulat mo. Dapat din ay kung ano ang tone or theme ng kwento sa manuscript mo, ay ganoon din dapat ang tone or theme na nasa synopsis mo.
