Chapter 06 | It's with him

Start from the beginning

"Huh... I have to pee." She said before running off.

After her improptu excuse of getting out of the situation she was in, Joanne returned to a missing Cory.

I'm going to kill that son of a bitch.

She scrambled around, yelling his name furiously before finding him in her bedroom. "What are you doing here?"

"I got bored and decided to take a look around, just like I thought, Snow White's room is just as boring as her." he said.

She scoffed, he did not just make her sound lame. If anything he was the one bored of everything and everyone, what would make her an exception?

He grabbed a picture and cooed. "Who is this?" He pointed to a girl seated between Chloe and Joanne.

"Don't just go around touching people's stuff." She snatched it out of his hands and placed it back on her drawer. "You know what, get out." She pushed him out.

"I could have sworn she looks familiar." He said.

Joanne snorted, Laura and Cory couldn't have met - anywhere - they were very different.

"Maybe one of the girls you've slept with."

He seemed to think before replying her. "Yeah, maybe."

They got downstairs and the front door opened.

"Mom." Joanne called.

"Mom?" Cory panicked. "She knows I'm here right?" He whispered.

"Shut up," She replied. "You're home."

"I am, who's this?"

Cory stepped in front of her before she could form a proper sentence, he introduced himself. "I'm Cory, nice to meet you Mrs Gyles."

"Nice to meet you... Is he your boyfriend?" Emily asked obliviously.

"Mom," Joanne palmed her face.

"No I'm not, but whoever that would be, is in for a life of misery." he stated.

Joanne elbowed him. "He was just about leaving." She pushed him out the door. "Bye Cory."

He smiled before waving. "Bye Snow White." He got in a car and whoever was in the driver's seat winked at her, before driving off.

Weird.

She exhaled before going to deal with the load of questions Emily was about to drop on her head. "Yes," she replied to her mother's questioning look.

"Who was that? Boys in the house? You didn't tell me you had friends now."

"Shouldn't you be happy? That's all you've ever wanted from me." She said spitefully.

Her mother looked hurt. "You will not speak to me like that, young lady."

"I'm sorry, we had a project together, that's the only reason he was here, he is not my friend." Joanne explained, and in return she raised her eyebrows so her mom could answer the question of why she was home a day before her supposed arrival.

"They found a doctor to fill in for today's shift with Ms. Diane, so I get to be home early. Why didn't you just tell me on the phone that he would be coming over? Does that also have an explanation, cause I'd love to hear it."

"It was pointless telling you about him coming, you wouldn't have objected anyway, and it's not like you're ever at home." Joanne said before she could stop the words from tumbling out.

Emily nodded. "That is correct, however that doesn't give you the right to invite a stranger into my house."

Joanne snorted, her mother was being unbelievable. "I did not invite him, I told you we were working on a project, one that you aren't even aware of by the way, because they never matter to you, what does is your job, would it have been better if I went to his house instead, huh? would it? Any right you have to act as my mother ended the day you gave up on Laura's case and the day you stopped caring about us."

Emily looked around, searching for something but without luck, asked. "Where's Chloe?"

Of course that would be her only concern, her beloved daughter would be the top of her list if anything happened, it were almost as if Joanne didn't exist, almost. "Out with her drug dealing friends."

"So you were alone with him in the house? What has gotten into you Joanne?"

Joanne wasn't phased by the fact that her mother didn't seem moved a bit by all the points she was making, acting so oblivious like she wasn't saying anything.

She had gotten used to Emily ignoring the most important details. "Nothing, you're the one reading meaning into meager stuff."

"Having a guy in my house is not meager."

Joanne hated the fact that her mother kept calling the house her's, she made it sound like she had some sort of control over her because she lived in her house, which wasn't even hers but her dad's.

"What would be? Brad?" She knew she had crossed that line when she said that, involving her mother's boyfriend in the matter was a way to ignite Emily's anger.

"Leave Brad out of this, and you are so grounded. I won't take your phone because I know it's the only thing keeping you alive, but other than that you aren't going anywhere till the break's over."

That was a rather harsh decision, nevertheless Joanne saw it coming. "I don't even go anywhere under normal circumstances, you would know that if you were ever home!!" She stormed off.

She felt the immediate need to report to her diary about what had just happen, it was what she needed and hung unto - like a lifeline, she searched around for it, but without finding it, gave up and began to retrace her steps.

I placed it on the drawer and then I slept off last night, I didn't do anything else and no one came into my room...

Ding, that was it, someone else did come into her room today, but it couldn't possibly have been him, she would have seen if he took anything out. She was just in the middle of her thoughts when a call came in.

"I'm partners with this douchebag of a guy, he is so annoying, rude, proud, cocky, he has no redeeming qualities whatsoever and I guess he's kinda cute, he's hot actually, he has piercing green eyes and amazing golden hair, enough to make girls drool over him, bla bla bla..." Cory paused "Do these lines seem familiar to you?"

A/N:
I know, I know, Cory is a very evil person... but doesn't that just make him the perfect male protagonist *evil laugh*
