He is always the first awake, 5am like clock work. He always has been an early bird, and people wouldn't assume that someone associated with the dark, could be such an early riser.

He gently removed the covers not wanting to wake up the brunette laying next to him, who even though is the most intellectual and hardworking person he ever had the pleasure to meet, is the worst when it comes to early mornings.

"Don't you dare wake me up Malfoy" A small grunt came out from underneath a mass of hair and pillows.

He chuckled lightly to himself, "Wouldn't dream of it love". He leant over quickly to kiss the base of her neck, which earned a satisfactory moan from his wife.

He wandered over to their wardrobe and accio'd a hoodie and joggers.

"You do know you have these things called hands" Hermione stated, still in the sleeping position

"Now where would the fun be in that?" He responded with a smirk, "we are brilliant, talented magical beings, why would we use something so mundane as our hands" the sarcastic, slightly mocking tone in his voice.

He heard a scoff coming from the witch, "lazy twat"

He let out a heart laugh. He knew his wife was right, and he was trying to be more 'mundane' for the benefit of his muggle born other half.

Things had changed since he met her.

The first night they spent together was the first night he managed to sleep all the way through, no nightmares, just peaceful, undisturbed sleep. And it was all thanks to her. Her presence had brought a sense of relief and calm to his life, and even though his wife was quite chaotic in the way she dealt with her daily life, the minute they were in each others company they both melded together like a jigsaw puzzle.

Never fully whole without the other.

His friends were shocked when he first mentioned a date with his Gryffindor class mate who was the object of his bullying days in school.

His fellow Slytherin's couldn't believe that the golden girl, Hermione Granger, had agreed to go out with the son of a death eater, whom happened to be a death eater by association himself back in their school days.

She was skeptical at first, she couldn't deny it.
Was this just a prank? Was he looking for someone to torment again? Was he bored?

"You can't be serious?!" Ron shouted, when she announced to the group she was going on a date with Malfoy. "You do realise his sole mission was to make our lives a living misery throughout school"

Hermione didn't like being shouted at, especially by Ron.

Especially when he insinuated she was being stupid.

"Look Ron," she sighed pinching the bridge of her nose, "I'm not looking for your permission"

Ron scoffed at her, "yeah well we all know you wouldn't listen to anybody anyway"

She stood up from her chair, brushing off her coat and grabbing her bag. "You know what Ronald,"

The ginger boy raised his head to look at her, the base of his neck bright red, which was usually a tell-tale sign of his frustration.

"I am going on a date with Draco.."

"Oh it's Draco now?" He laughed patronisingly.

"Yes Draco. I am going on a date with him and you will accept it and that will be the last I hear from you about the subject. Have a good day"

Without waiting to see if he had anything to say, she walked out of the cafe. Leaving Ron, Harry and Ginny all sat in silence, mouths hanging open.

And obviously those dates went well, considering she was now 'Hermione Granger-Malfoy' and she wore the name with pride.

She felt protected for the first time, which was ironic considering a few years ago she would have ran in the other direction from the blonde haired menace. But she did, she felt secure, and looked after.

He truly did love her with every fibre of his being.

He switched the kettle on, deciding that just for her, he would use the muggle way of doing things, even if it was just to make his morning coffee.

It was the little things she appreciated.

Suddenly he felt arms snake up his chest from behind him, her protruding belly sticking into his back.

"How is the little smidge doing" he asked as he turned around and placed both his hands on either side of her stomach.

"She thinks my bladder is a squeeze toy" she huffed in frustration. The witch didn't enjoy anybody interrupting her sleep, even if it was her unborn child.

"Well I think he just wanted to be closer to his dad" Draco said jokingly as he placed a kiss on her forehead and another one on her lips.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night my dear" she replied, settling herself down at their dining table, grabbing yesterdays daily prophet, scrolling through to the muggle puzzle section and continuing her crossword she had started the day before.

She laughed out loud, gaining the attention from her husband.

"What?" He asked curiously, raising his eyebrow at his smiling wife.

"Okay," she said grabbing the paper and facing him, "4 down, 7 Letters, last name of the female individual of the "golden trio" who helped win the second wizarding war, now head of the department of care of magical creatures in the Minsitry"

He laughed out loud, "no way you're in a crossword" he took the paper from her to see in black and white ink.

"Wow, 4 down" he said with a fake swoon, "4 down is currently in my kitchen, in my T-shirt, can I get an autograph 4 down?"

She swotted him on the arm playfully, "shut up you dork" as she reached for the paper back, "besides it should be 13 letters, not just 7. It's Granger-Malfoy now"

"Damn right it is" he said as he reached in to kiss her again.

She was all his, and he was a damn lucky son of a bitch.
