The intelligence unit, you could describe it in many ways depending on which way you look at it. One may say it's robust and extreme, another may say it's unique and extraordinary, but no matter which angle you look at it, you will always know that it's a closely packed family. That was until Erin Lindsay made her definitive departure, she left with no goodbye leaving the team lost for answers. Alvin olinsky was the next to leave but unfortunately his departure wasn't by choice, he was brutally murdered in jail for a crime he didn't do all while staying loyal to hank Voight. That's another key aspect in this unit, loyalty.

That's where Ava Miller comes in, she's a highly skilled detective who graduated from the police academy with flying colours, then went onto become an FBI agent in New York where she spent 4 years working under Olivia Bensons specialist unit. Similarly to hank voights unit, they were all super close, that was until Ava joined the task force of course. She had been on the task force up until this very moment when she found herself stood in the lobby of district 21. Here's to new beginnings, or not...

Her long brown hair hangs softly over her defined shoulders, her crystal blue eyes are extremely bright and they stick out the most. Her skin is some kind of shade between olive and tanned, a few freckles buried in the midst too. She's cut, not like extremely ripped, but she's got a six pack and strong legs and arms to go with it, her strength is one of the things she honours the most about her physical appearance. She's really light in weight which is surprising for all the muscle she carries around, but she's cherishes her personality over everything. She's bubbly and kind to anyone who crosses her path unless they give her a reason to flip, then she'll show them how cold she can get.

That brings us back to the present day, Ava was stood in the lobby of the 21st district admiring the plain yet homely decor, "can I help you?" The older desk Sargent huffed out.  Ava smiled and walked towards her desk, "I hope so, I'm Ava Miller the..." she started but the rather moody lady stood on the other side of the desk cut her off, "the new member of intelligence I know, I'm Sargent platt. Your informations in the system already so just scan your hand on your way up then you're good to go" she managed to speak the whole statement without cracking a smile.  Ava smiled and nodded, "thanks Sarge" she swivelled into her heels then began walking towards the metal cage at the bottom of the stairs.

As she was walking up the stairs the distinctive chatter was getting louder and louder until it stopped as she stood at the top of the stairs looking at the unit as they stared back at her.  She smiled at them and walked down the aisle of the bullpen towards voights office, is that jay Halstead? Oh no no no no no, not him, anyone but him...She made eye contact with jay for about 3 seconds before she looked away and walked into voights office after he waved her inside.  It wasn't a sweet kind of eye contact either, it was a stare full of painful memories and hatred for each other.

"Welcome to intelligence Miller" hank shook her hand, Ava smiled, "thanks Sarge, I won't disappoint you" she shook his hand back.  Hank smiled, "you better not" he laughed.  Ava laughed too before the pair walked out to meet the team.  "Everyone meet Ava Miller, she's your new team member so be nice and someone show her around" he pointed to her before vanishing back inside his office.  The team all stood up apart from jay, he walked into voights office instead, "Sarge, is she my new partner or something? Because if she is find someone else" he scoffed.  Hank raised his eyebrows, "have you got a problem with her?" He huffed.  Jay nodded, "yeah, I do" he shrugged.  Hank nodded, "well deal with it, because she's staying" he waved him out.

Jay huffed but nodded then walked out, the two go way back with each other and it wasn't good. He sat back down at his desk feeling a little relieved that Kim and Vanessa had volunteered to show her around.

"This is the locker room, but I will warn you, privacy is something you don't get a lot of around here" Kim smiled. Ava laughed, "typical" he smiled back. The girls finished the tour in roughly 10 minutes, Ava knew everyone she needed to know which included the trudy and the team along with a few other patrol officers she bumped into on the way back upstairs. The team was obviously tightly packed as it consisted of Kim, Adam, Vanessa, Kevin, mouse, and lastly Ava and jay, how unlucky for the pair. She wandered back into the bullpen behind the two girls and smiled but avoided eye contact with jay, "you'll be partnered with Halstead" hank waved to her desk. She smiled and nodded, well isn't that fantastic, absolutely great...

The team had caught a case and they were needed at a crime scene to gather up information and start working immediately. Unfortunately that meant jay and Ava had to sit in a car together even though it was beyond uncomfortable, "just so you know we aren't friends, and we're never gonna be" jay huffed. Ava shrugged, "fine by me, as long as you have my back out there, I'll have yours" she huffed back. Jay rolled his eyes but nodded in agreement, they didn't need to be friendly, civil was more then enough, right?

Once they were on the scene they began working, jay and Ava avoided each other as much as they possibly could without disrupting their colleagues. They kept their conversation of nothing more than work and work only, that's how much they despise each other. "Head out guys" hank signalled for them to get back to the district. They all obeyed and got back into the vehicles they came in, once again the car journey was silent and awkward. Ava recognised jay straight away when she stepped foot into the bullpen this morning, he hadn't changed one bit. But jay however, he had to take a double glance at her as she walked past him just to double check he was seeing things correctly, Ava has changed a lot since they last saw each other...
