This is where it all began, right here, in the middle of Mrs. Green's health class. I was minding my OWN business, everyone was taking their seats, and pretending they couldn't find their homework. I however had mine neatly placed in front of me, everything was perfect, I passed my history test with a spotless A, I got first in the district spelling bee, and I had all my homework done for the next week. I smiled at Mrs. Green as she entered the classroom, although she was my favorite teacher, she doomed me today. I pushed my glasses farther up my nose, and brushed imaginary dust from my homework page as Mrs. Green's firm instructive voice filled the classroom.
"When I call your name, you will stand, and bring your homework up to me so I may check you off my list."
A few disappointed sighs here and there, but I still had a smile plastered on my face. Everything went so smoothly, that was until she called Jason Hill's name.
"Jason Hill."
He acted as if she didn't just speak.
I looked back at him, he was goofing off with his friends, oh well it's not my F.
"Jason Hill. Bring up your homework."
Jason finally turned back around, and smirked.
I had to admit Jason was quite the athlete, it'll be a shame when coach pulls him from the team. Jason's friends erupted into bursts of laughter, causing me to glance back at Jason. Whom had decided to prop his feet up in his desk, looking straight at Mrs. Green, giving her a challenging smile while flipping his golden boy hair.
I smirked, thinking it was going to end differently than it had.
"Jason, have you not completed your assignment."
She remained calm, and I started seeing the nervousness break Jason's barrier.
"I didn't feel like it." He put on that challenging smile again.
"That's the second time this week. Jason you're failing health, but since you don't feel like trying I'll just have to send your coach a message."
Genuine worry flashed across golden boy's features.
"So what." He growled back.
Oh I guess he's going to keep the act up. His comment had girls giggling, his friends rolling, and me frowning.
"You'll get kicked from the team if your grades don't improve, along with your attitude."
The room went from laughter to dead silence. Jason looked as if he just watched his puppy get ran over.
"YOU CAN'T DO THAT!" He frantically yelled, and I found myself smirking.
I was smirking because I knew she could do that, and she would.
Her response was wise, it was full of venom, and it was merely silence.
"I'll do anything!" He practically cried out, even his football buddies began worrying.
"Than I'll find you a tutor but you must make effort."
I almost laughed , like someone would actually tutor him. He's hopeless now.
"Lucy will tutor you-" wait did she just say Lucy, IM LUCY! "For the rest of this nine weeks, and if you don't show improvement I will contact your coach."
"Mrs. Green She can't tutor me!"
"Mrs. Green I can't tutor him! He's helpless!" Jason and I both yelled in unison.
Bringing this story to where I am currently.
"Both of you stop! Lucy I know you will tutor him, your my best student, and I expect my best student to act like one. Jason she either tutors you, or you're off the team." She glared coldly at us both. Jason automatically shut up.
I bowed my head and tried to suppress the protests even as I heard Jason's buddies fiercely whispering.
"Ha dude you're stuck with Losy."
"God she's such a loser"
"I know guys, I don't have a choice!"
Their words didn't hurt, they just angered me. The rest of class was a blur. When the bell finally rang I walked up to Jason, whom had his arm around head cheerleader Britney.
"I expect to see you after school, in Mrs. Green's room."
I slipped out the door before he could say another word, and before Britney could make any comments.
