Zodiac Series: Capricorn

Prologue

Life's been dependant on your zodiac signs. On what you wear, your personality and your physical capabilities. It dictates you on what you should be doing.

I am a senior high school student, sa makatunayan isa ako sa mga taong naniniwala sa mga horoscopes o kung ano man ang nakikita sa social media.

Today is January 2 and my family is planning for an outdoor activity. Camping in the park. Maganda din ito para naman mawala lahat ng stress sa katawan dahil sa natambakan kami last school semester kaya naman ay excited ako ngayon. I wore a white shirt with flower patterns all over it. It reflects a summer vibes perfect for todays occasion.

Nakarinig ako ng katok mula sa pintuan ng kwarto ko kaya kinuha ko ang aking bag at nagmadaling lumabas. "Ang ganda ng unica iha namin ah." Salubong ni mommy nang makalabas ako. "Mana ako sayo ma eh." At sabay kaming natawa dalawa.

Nang nakalabas na kami ay naghihintay naman si daddy at namuri saming dalawa ni mommy. I saw the glitter on my father's eye as he stared at my mom. I smiled then wished that God would give me the person that will look at me like how my father did to my mother.

It's been a short drive around 5-10 minutes pero sumakit parin likod ko. Nang bumaba kami tanaw ko ang kalinisan ng parke at ang malawak na ilog katabi nito na may railings sa gilid for safety purposes. I have been here before and I was still a little child back then. Kahit anong lapit lang nito samin hindi ko mapuntahan dahil sa daming gawain. I forgot to unwind and have fun.

Naglatag ng piece of blanket si papa sa damuhan at nagsetup na din ng tent katabi nito. Inayos namin ang mga pagkain at kagamitang dala namin. We opened our packed dinner at nagsimulang kumain habang ineenjoy ko naman ang scenery sa harapan ko. Napakacalming I wished it is always like this. Gusto ko bumalik ulit dito.

Nagpaalam akong uupo sa bench sa tapat ng ilog. I brought my jacket with me since it is cold and it's way past midnight at kakaunti nalang ang tao dito sa parke. Mga nagcacamping din. I was taking pictures when some girl sat next to me. Then, a silly idea came into my mind.

I tuck my phone on my pocket then lend her my hand. "Hi, you caught my eyes. Can I catch yours too?" She froze for a second but she eventually shakes my hand. "Uhm, hello I was not expecting that." Tumawa siya at natawa na rin ako. "Nagcacamping din mama at papa mo dito?" I asked and she points her index on a green tent.

Tumango nalang ako then I then faced the lake. "Anong pangalan mo?" Tanong niya.

"Laurelia- Laurelia Emilio, ikaw ba?"
"Valentina Halkias."

That was out last parting words when my mon called me for bed. She stayed there on the bench for a couple of minutes and as the morning came. Their green tent is nowhere to be found and we also headed back to our home.

I guess I will never see her again.
