"Hey! Earth to Bookworm! Hello? Y/N! Hey!"

Hearing a loud scream right next to my ear, I quickly turned my head to see Louise standing above me, her hands waving in front of my face.

"What? Huh?" I muttered, my eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"The training groups are posted! Come on, we have to see who we got. I hope we're in the same group!" Louise squealed, her hands clasping together next to her chest in excitement.

"Oh yeah, that's right.... Yeah! Let's go check!" I responded as I briskly closed the book that I was so engulfed in. Louise smiled and turned to run off as I got myself ready. Today was the day that all of us recruits had been waiting for. For Scout Recruits, once we finish our work in the Training Corps, we are all split up and placed into groups that are lead by one of the Officers of the Scout Regiment. This year, the five Officers were; Jean, Connie, Sasha, Mikasa, and Armin. A lot of the recruits were upset that Eren wasn't on the list of training officers, but I thought that was pretty understandable since he was the most valuable person on all of Paradis. A lot of us had been hoping for a certain Officer or a certain group, but I honestly didn't mind either way. As long as I was able to learn the most that I could and get as strong as possible, that's all I could wish for.

Once I had gotten myself ready, I ran out of the sleeping quarters and made my way to the bulletin board at the end of the Mess Hall. Everyone hovered around the board, their excited voices bouncing off the wooden walls that surrounded us. Weaving my way through the crowd, I found Louise standing close in line to the front.

"So, are you excited?" I asked her. "I know you've been hoping to get Mikasa. Are you going to be okay if it doesn't work out?"

The whole reason Louise decided to join the Survery Corps was because of Mikasa. During the attack on Wall Maria, Mikasa slayed a titan that saved Louise and her family. Ever since then, her only goal in life was to fight alongside her.

"I mean, that's the whole reason why I'm here... But, I understand that it's not all that realistic. I'll be happy either way." Louise responded, giving me a half-assed smile. I rolled my eyes.

Finally, after what seemed like hours, we made it to the front of the line. Squinting our eyes and tracing our fingers across the paper to find our names, we were met with our Training Officer on the list.

"I got Jean... Oh, well. I guess that will have to do." Louise shrugged and then turned to me.
"Who did you get, Y/N?"

"I got Armin!" I smiled. I wasn't exactly shooting for any specific Officer, but I was glad that I got Armin. Out of all the candidates, I knew that he was the nicest but also the smartest. Even though he wasn't amazing at fighting or working with the ODM gear, he was an impeccable teacher for everything else. I was beyond excited to hear what he had to say to us recruits.

Both me and Louise smiled at eachother before turning around to head back to the sleeping quarters. It was late at night, and the next morning was when we started up our second round of training, so it was important that we all received a good night's sleep.

"So, are you excited to work with Armin?" Louise asked me, a glimmer of mysteriousness in her voice.

"I mean, yeah. He's an amazing Scout. I honestly couldn't have asked for anyone better. I know that my main reason to join the Scouts was to get stronger physically, but after our basic training I can confidently say that I have gotten far with that goal in mind. Now, the only think I can do is become smarter and more quick-witted. Especially with our attack on Marley coming in the near future, I want to be someone that the Survery Corps can rely on in battle and on the sidelines." I rambled, my eyes focused on what was ahead of me and my arms confidently placed at my sides.

"Wow, look at you, Miss Genius. Sounds like you're gonna be quite the teacher's pet. Maybe you'll even get to have some fun with Officer Armin." Louise teased, her hands rising up as if she was about to tickle me.

"Hey, hey, don't say stuff like that," I giggled, playfully pushing her away from me.
"We're here for business. There's no time for any romantic stuff. Besides, I'm not interested in Armin like that..."

As we got back to our bunks and laid ourselves into bed, Louise turned the light off and we said our 'goodnights' before parting our ways. I tried to fall asleep, but I was too excited for the next days to come. I couldn't stop thinking about being taught everything that goes through Armin's head. I never realized how exciting it would be to have Armin as a teacher. I usually forgot about him since he never really visited the training grounds; I guess he was always with Mikasa and Eren, talking about important war duties or whatever they discussed. But, now, I had never been more antsy.

After a while, I drifted into a deep sleep, where I dreamed of my first day in our Second Training.
