She had an amazing childhood, and she was best friends with her brother, Cedric. Upon coming to Hogwarts, she was sorted into Slytherin, by her family's surprise. She fit in well, though, and hung out with all of the wrong people, who made her become what she is today. In her third year, she started to like Draco Malfoy, one of her best friends. She mostly did it because she noticed her enemy, Isabella, developing a crush on him. Not wanting to lose him, she tries to steal him away from her, and is ultimately successful. That is, until her fifth year. Her brother, Cedric, had just passed away, and she was starting to realize she wasn't happy with Draco anymore. She started to hang out with the twins, and ultimately fell for Fred, who she breaks up with Draco for during their summer before sixth year.
