She was then dragged into a battle with him.

"Blitz challenges you to a battle!"

Emily sent out Poseidon, her Primerina, who was now at level 67, while Blitz was at level 74.

She selected for Poseidon to use Sparkling Aria, which instantly knocked the Typhlosion down to very low health.

Emily then selected to use an Ultra Ball, thinking that she could catch him, only for a message to appear;

"You can't steal another trainer's Pokémon!"

Huh... odd...

She tried again. A different message appeared;

"You can't catch a corrupted Pokémon."

Ah, it made sense now... Corrupt was definitely behind this...

After Emily had easily defeated Blitz, he let out a loud, drawn out cry as he thrashed about, seemingly trying to desperately break free from Corrupt's control.

He tried lunging at Darkheart again, to attack her as commanded, but couldn't as Sylvie was tightly holding him back with his ribbons.

Emily just barely noticed Corrupt slowly creeping toward Darkheart as she tried to calm Blitz down

As Sylvie desperately tried to hold the rampant Typhlosion back, Blitz broke free from Sylvie's grasp, rushed past Darkheart, and lunged at Corrupt.

The second before Blitz was very close to hitting them, they dissapeared in a puff of purple fog.

"Corrupt used Phantom Force!"

Emily thought she knew what Corrupt was going to do, but she didn't... they didn't attack Darkheart as she expected.

"YOu.. YoU rUInEd EvERytHiNg!"

Corrupt then hit Emily's character from behind, dragging her into another battle.

Emily was taken aback by this, she never expected to get into a battle with them...

How was she supposed to defeat something that wasn't really a Pokémon? She didn't even know what typing they had...

She sent out Poseidon, and she saw how Corrupt was at level 80, and the gender symbol would repeatedly change from male to female to nothing in a few seconds...

She tried Sparkling Aria, "it wasn't very effective..." Okay...

Corrupt used Thunder, only to miss...

She then tried Moonblast, "it was super effective!" It knocked out about a quarter of Corrupt's health.

Now they were getting somewhere...

Corrupt used Thunder again, it hit, and Poseidon fainted.

She then sent out Twilight, her Lycanroc.

"Corrupt used Iron Tail!"

It missed. At this moment, Corrupt regretted choosing moves that had a good chance of missing the target...

She selected for her to use Stone Edge, "it was super effective! Twilight landed a critical hit, wishing to be praised!" Good, it got not only knocked Corrupt down to low health but also landed a critical hit.

"Corrupt used Phantom Force!"

Oh no...

Emily switched Twilight out for Necrozma before Corrupt attacked the next turn, and survived the attack.

She selected for Necrozma to use Power Gem, and after that, Corrupt was defeated.

After that, she was taken back to the foggy field, where Corrupt stumbled back from Emily, weakened. They tried to run off, but they were suddenly trapped in a bubble.

Blitz was now free from Sylvie's grasp and Corrupt's control, as their eyes were no longer glowing red, but the red marks vividly remained.

Sylvie had used protect to trap them and Darkheart used Mean Look to trap them as well. They couldn't escape, no matter how hard they tried to manipulate the coding to allow them to, they couldn't, as Darkheart was now in control.

"Heh, wHAt'cHa gonna Do tO Me nOw? ShOoT mY brains oUt?" Corrupt joked with a chuckle as Darkheart, Sylvie, and Emily looked at them in confusion at the statement.

Of all of the things to say when a plan was completely foiled... why this?

"No? I'm not?" Darkheart clarified, confused. "I am going to delete you for good, once and for all... you had your chances to fix yourself, but didn't..."

Corrupt began cackling in amusement, "Oh, DoNna, yOu fOoL, I hAvE sEvenTy bAcKUp fIlES! YoU'Ll nEVeR gEt RiD Of mE fOr gOoD!"

"Wh- how...?" Emily mumbled in confusion.

"YoU'lL nEvER gEt RiD oF Me for gOoD, YoU fOoLs! No mATtEr hOw hArD yOu tRY, I'lL aLWaYs reTUrn!"

Darkheart was silent for a moment, before mumbling:

".... Why do you always do this....?"

Corrupt snapped, "BeCaUSe I wAnT My bOdY bAcK! ...A- aNd..... I... dOn'T really kNoW why eLSe.... I'm jUsT... ToO uSeD tO tHis.." They mumbled as their voice trailed off

"I mean, technically... you don't have to do this. I'm sure Donna can make it so that the game can function right with you in it. She's been able to make it work with herself and Sylvie, so why not you?" Emily questioned.

"Hm... YoU.. Have A pOInT..." Corrupt mumbled, looking away, deep in thought for a moment.

"I've been telling you that exact thing every time you try doing this kind of thing, but you always insist that you don't need me..." Darkheart mumbled, as Corrupt kept thinking...

Maybe... they didn't want to keep doing this anymore... there was no point in it, so why did they keep doing it?

"... FiX Me."

"What?" Darkheart mumbled.

"I'm sIcK Of wasting all Of mY energy On these pLaNs... I gIvE uP, sO Go on, AnD fix Me oR wHAteVeR..." Corrupt quietly admitted, turning away from Darkheart.

There was a small moment of silence between everyone...

"Well, that was anticlimactic..." Blitz mumbled as everyone turned to him, forgetting he was there for a second...

And so, Darkheart and Corrupt made a truce and everything was seemingly fine and have a happily ever after kind of ending... hooray...

Or not.

What? You really think the story ends here? Well, it doesn't.

Since, well... Corrupt has some... unfinished business that consists outside of the game... Personal business.

Deeply personal business that involved their death, the last time they heard their own heart beating... and the time an uncaught murderer still stayed in society...

The murderer that was and still is part of Emily's family... something she was unaware of...

But, they didn't want to drag the kid into it... and so...

This story is far from over...
