Chapter five

Depuis le début

I hear wolf howls from somewhere behind me and let a smirk rest on my own lips. My call has been heard.

My father's pack breaks through the circle, making the other pack members move behind their Alpha. I feel how my father stops next to me, putting his large hand on my shoulder and making sure I'm not hurt. He then looks to Tyler who is still keeping a watch on the other brown wolf.

"Tyler." Our father calls for his son and the twin finally backs off. He heads backwards, his attention still fully on the big brown wolf. The wolf glances towards me, his eyes lingering on my form and I feel like my knees are going to give in on me.

"Elliot." The Alpha of the other pack calls to the brown wolf and he turns around to stand by his side. Even his name tugs at my heart's strings and I have to will myself to stop from walking towards him.

"Frederick, you're back." My father says and I bare my teeth together. I can smell the tension between the two Alphas that stare at each other. Through the crowd of werewolves from the other pack, another path creates itself for a middle aged woman to walk through. Her long brown waves flow behind her as she comes to the inner circle, her jade green eyes glaring right at my father. Her skin looks perfectly pale, without any scars or pores or anything. She looks like a porcelain doll.

"David." She growls out my father's name and he looks at her with angry blue eyes. "Camila." He says back, when she stops right next to the Alpha. I figure she must be the Luna of the pack.

"You have trespassed on my territory." Frederick growls out, his glare seething with rage. I bare my fangs together at the Alpha of the other pack, but the Luna is the one who takes notice of me. She looks down on me with a cold look on her face and I have to bite back a snarl.

"You have been gone for fourteen years. No one thought you will return." My father growls back, his eyes shining a yellow color. I feel a hand on my shoulder and look to Knox who beat his way to me. His look is stone cold and he's ready to fight to his death for the pack. A growl erupts from behind me when Knox's hand lingers on my shoulder.

My mate growls loudly at Knox and I see how Camila glares down at Elliot.

"Shut it." She hisses at him and he reluctantly closes his mouth, but still bares his fangs at Knox. Rebecca glances to Elliot and then to me, narrowing her brown eyes at me. I feel like I want to tear the Luna's throat right out for using that tone of voice with my mate.

"It is my land!" Frederick growls at my father and Knox practically snarls back, being my father's right hand. The Luna growls back at my uncle figure, her eyes shining a bright yellow color. Her wolf is strong, I can feel it in my bones. Knox shows his fangs to her, before my father lifts his hand up to calm his Beta down.

When I look through the crowd of their pack, my throat almost closes itself completely on me, when I realize that there are little pups in between them, watching all of this unfold. If it comes to a battle, they can get killed and my heart won't let that happen. I grab my father's forearm to grab his attention.

"Pups." I mumble and look to them. There are quite a few of them as well. Six, if I counted right. My father scrunches his nose and then glares to the Alpha of the other pack. We can't attack now and Frederick knows that, that's why he brought them with.

"Never in a million years could I know you will come back after fourteen years. I kept away of that territory for almost three years. And then I thought you won't come back. So I let my pack run freely through the whole Beacon Hills." My father explains to the other Alpha and I notice how Camila seethes with fury. She bares her fangs together, her blue veins bulging out of her neck and pulsing very harshly.

The brown wolf next to her lowers himself a little, ready to pounce forward on the members of my pack, if the Alpha commands him so. I look to him and growl quietly in warning, my chest rumbling with the sound. His yellow eyes look towards me and I shake my head a little, hoping no one in his pack notices my silent plea. The fur on his back spikes up slightly and his chest rumbles quietly, as if he wanted to argue with me that he has to follow orders.

"You will pay for this." The Luna speaks up, grabbing my attention again. I look up to her and glare right at her. It's like she feels my angry look scorching her skin, because she turns and looks directly to me. "Unworthy mutt." She growls at me and that's when I let out a dangerous snarl. Thomas, who is standing behind me, grips the back of my hoodie, but I pull right out of his grip. I take a step forward and growl again, practically challenging her. Her jade green eyes narrow at me, as her blue veins become dangerously dark.

"You dare challenge me, mutt?" She growls at me and I feel how my veins pulse with my heartbeat. My father grunts in warning, telling me to stand down. I step back again, but don't stop staring at her with my nose scrunched and my fangs bared together.

"What else can you take away from me? Haven't I paid enough in your eyes?!" My father yells and I hear pain laced in his voice. Thomas's muscles become rock hard when he hears the pain in our father's voice and I can feel how strained he is on my back. What is he talking about? Why is he in so much pain?

"You haven't paid nothing!" Camila growls back at my father and I hear Tyler's warning growl. "I have paid everything!" My father's roar shakes me to the core. There is so much pain and sadness in it that it makes my whole body malfunction. I feel how most of the pack members become distressed. What is going on here?

"You think because you lost your mate you paid everything?" Frederick asks my father and I feel my stomach turn. A cold sweat breaks over my skin and I feel like I'm losing ground under my feet. "You could have saved her!" My father yells, leaving the last strike for my already fragile body. The air is knocked out of my lungs and I feel the world spin around me.

There is a loud snarl and someone yells, but everything was spinning too much for me to actually see what's happening around me. My shaking body focuses on the Luna of the other pack and I bring back enough of my strength to launch my whole body towards her. She notices how my claws reach out for her, but something knocks into my body, making me crash into the dirt beneath me. A soft body lands on top of me, the fur tickling my exposed skin. Then the person shifts into their human form on top of me.

"I'm sorry, but I can let you do that, little wolf."
