The black turns into red, then the red turns into purple, then it turns into many different colours. the the colours all come into focus.
I look at the new world around me. There are toadstools the size of houses. Trees have golden leaves and pearls for fruit. The grass smells of peaches and lime ice cream- my favourite type of ice cream. I am lying on a road of dirt. But the dirt feels soft and fuzzy. There is a castle in the distance. The very air smells of flowers. A little man is standing in front of me. He is wearing a red dress. Why is a boy wearing a dress? This is a strange place. Then I realised it was a tunic. The tunic had a Mushroom on the front.
"hello, i mean- your majesty." with this he gave a deep bow. This place is just getting weirder and weirder
"I'm not-" I began
"your mother will be delighted to see you. But before we present you to her we must get you some proper clothing..."
One houri am dressed and ready to see the Queen who I am supossed her daughter. I am wearing a white dress that sweeps along the floor and makes everyone trip over it. It is embrodied with flowers. They nearly put me in a corset, no way am I wearing a corset. It is all tipped off with a dainty tiara. The tiara is made of gold wire with small gems put in between some of the gold wires.
"enter." I am about to enter the throne room. There I will meet the queen of Kinoko. The doors open and I walk in. The throne room is empty except for a few knights and a shadowy figure sitting on the throne.
"leave me alone with my dear daughter." with that the guards left. I then got my first look of the queen.
She had brown hair with grey highlights. Her face was as wrinkled as a prune, well nearly as wrinkled. She was not beautiful. She wasn't even pretty.
"come walk with me"
She led me to the gardens. There we walked. When she was sure no one was watching she started to talk to me.
"I know you are not my daughter."
"why does everyone think I am?"
"well your father passed through here. He said a girl who looked like you might pass through. He said that you were important to this lands destiny." it was then that an arrow flew from across the hedge flew and hit her in her heart. " Holly. Take this." she pressed an old pocket watch into my hand " it is a time compass. It will point you to the time you need to go to. Do not be misguided. When I am dead, run away. Take as much as you need from the castle- take a horse and food and all that. You must find your father. He will be at-" she gave a great shudder and her eyes misted over. I ran. Just like she told me to?
When I got to my would be room I grabbed my bag and started to pack a bag of clothes, food and I even packed some weapons. I sneaked out to the stables. I took two horse- one to ride on and another to pack everything on. I picked a graceful white mare called Amber and a black gelding called Randell. I loaded my stuff onto Randell and tied him onto Amber. Then I mounted Amber (after 4 tries) and once I figured out how to get her to go forwards ( she kept going backwards. dont look at me like that! i haven't had lessons for 3 years. Of course I'm a bit rusty) then, I was off on my great adventure
