The day went on with the group getting bolder and bolder with their pick-up lines. Schlatt started making sex jokes a while ago and Wilbur easily had a comeback for each one. George passed out as soon as the sun was starting to set. He wasn't responding to anything going on around him. He was out cold. Dream was slightly drunk. His speech was slurred and he kept wheezing every couple of minutes. Quackity and Sapnap were only staying up due to sheer determination. It's a wonder that they didn't pass out yet. Eret was tipsy enough to make the cheesiest little flirts every once in a while. Technoblade and Philza were completely sober, but Phil has a very red face.
The night progressed quickly, the flirting sped up the time. Tommy and Tubbo kept giving Wilbur the look and he retaliated with a glare. The moon was a quarter high in the sky when his shift ended. Most people in the tavern had already left, a few stayed though. Wilbur was deciding whether he should say goodbye to the group or no.
He decided that he should. "Well, that was a fun night. Shame we won't get to see each other again. You lot are a pretty fun group." He expected to say the same. Something like 'yeah, fun talking to you' or 'I'll be getting a room then I'll be out of your beautiful, curly hair.'
He did not expect Sapnap to rise from his drunken slumber to proudly declare that they're staying for a week. And that's exactly what they did. Phil ordered 3 rooms. Two-three bedrooms and one two-bedroom. The Dream Team as they called themselves, were taking one of the three bedrooms. Technoblade, Philza, and Eret were taking the other one. That left the two beds room to Schlatt and Quackity. They all stumbled up the stairs, bidding him goodnight. Niki shot him a look. He shot one right back.

Niki is always the first one up in the morning. But when she woke up on this particular day, Wilbur wasn't in his bed. She doesn't think much of it.
The horse hybrid quickly changed and walked down the worn stairs. She had bread and muffins to bake. And then she has to wash the dishes Tubbo forgot about. Then she has to double-check the alcohol to see if there's-
There's Wilbur.
And he's talking to a hybrid with a red cape. Wil's sitting on one of the tables near the kitchen window. He looks like he's smiling..? And he laughed. Niki's mind wandered about what that could mean when Red-Cape walked to the door. She hurried down the rest of the stairs and rushed to Wil, fully intending on getting all the details of their relationship. If they have a relationship.
Wil caught sight of her when she was about halfway to him. He simply waved as if he wasn't just flirting with a guy. Niki's going to have so much fun teasing the answer out of him.
"Hello, Niki."
Niki was close enough to the bunny now. Thanks to his very pale skin, she can see the barely-there pink in his cheeks. "Wil! Wil. Wilbur. Do you like him? Is the famously difficult bunny falling for someone? Tell me!"
"Wha-wait! Niki! It's nothing like that. I just like his humor. Nothing more. And before you bring up me blushing, you know I blush very easily." Wilbur was red now. He looked a bit indignant.
"Well, I won't let you live this down. I'll tell Tommy and Tubbo. I'm sure they'll love to hear about how much you like 'his sense of humor.'"
"No! Niki!"
"Good morning," a deep voice announced from the top of the stairs. Eret came down a few seconds later. He waved to Wilbur who waved right back.
He strolled over to where the two were sitting. The bat had this causal air around him. The type that just makes you relax in his presence. He looked like he had something to say.
"Wilbur, I was wondering if you would like to walk around town for a bit when your break is up."
That took Wilbur by surprise. Normally, people don't ask him for a date. They just invite him to their bed.
"As much as I would like to, I don't have a break. The tavern is really busy all the time if you haven't noticed, and anyone who wants to help work quite after the first hour."
"Oh. If you want I can help. I can last an hour, and I can ask if any of my friends want to help as well."
Niki spoke up at the mention of asking his friends to help,
"Oh no. We couldn't possibly. You should enjoy your stay. We wouldn't want you to force yourselves to work."
"Please," Eret implored, "I insist."
"Well... Extra help wouldn't hurt, right Niki?"
"I guess it wouldn't... Well, Eret, you're hired."
The morning progressed with Wilbur showing Eret how to be a waiter. The others woke up and came down to help too. Schlatt and George were the only ones not helping since George was asleep and Schlatt was Schlatt. Phil would help Niki with the cooking, and the horse hybrid was already showing him how to make bread.
Tommy and Tubbo came down a bit after they started, watching them, judging them. Refusing to serve Schlatt any drinks before brunch. They laughed whenever they messed up, like when Dream somehow broke the iron-handle broomstick. Or when Quackity got a tray stuck on the ceiling.
Technoblade came back twenty minutes before the brunch rush. He sat down with Schlatt and George. He planned to watch the chaos unfold.
Ten minutes before the brunch rush, customers are dropping in more. Wilbur doesn't even need to do anything. Sapnap is entertaining the people by breathing the fire from the flaming cocktails.
Five minutes before the brunch rush, George woke up. Phil learned how to make omelettes. Tommy got in an argument with Dream. He is now running around the tavern trying to serve everyone in under a minute.
Four minutes. Schlatt got Quackity to dance on his table. Technoblade moved to the bar to chat with Tubbo.
Three minutes. Niki prepared enough food for a dragon to eat. It'll run out in 30 minutes.
Two minutes. Eret pulled Wilbur aside. He asked if they could walk around town now.
One minute. Wilbur said yes.
