EJ joined the team a few months before season 1, JJ convinced her it was better than undercover work. She adores her nephew Henry and her daughter Roslyn, only Emily knows who the father of Roslyn is. 

(EJ's POV when Emily joined the Doyle case)

I have been undercover on an IRA international terrorist case for the last two years, I was currently pregnant, yes my team knows so they are sending my best friend Emily undercover as my sister. I was sitting on the couch cuddled up with a little blonde boy named Declan I had just read him a story and he was in my lap asleep with his head on my chest. I was falling asleep when he came in with Emily and said "Hey Lils you didn't tell me your sister Lauren was an arms dealer." I said, "I didn't know." Emily said, "Lily and I don't talk about what we do for a living with each other." I tiredly said "What are you doing here Lauren?" she said "Me? I'm looking for Valhalla, the question is what are you doing here? And who's kid is that?" I said, "I live here and this is the housekeeper's son, I like napping with him." She walked around the sitting room, looking at the decorations, Ian said "Louise come get your kid!" she came in and I kissed his head as she lifted his tiny body into her arms and went to lay him in his room. 

(7 months later)

I was spinning around holding Declan when I felt like I peed myself and felt a sharp pain course through my abdomen. I panicked and said, "Lauren take Declan!" Em looked at me and said "Why? What's wrong?" I said "Seriously Lauren take him now!" she grabbed him as I dropped to my knees holding my stomach. Em screamed "Ian!" he ran into the room and said "Lily? What's wrong?" I said "The baby is coming!" he said, "Ok breathe, Louise come help Lily give birth, Lauren put the boy in his playroom." 

He took me to my room and I laid on my bed, I screamed as another contraction hit. After 20 hours of labor and 30 minutes of pushing I welcomed my baby girl into the world. Emily sat on the bed next to me after Louise handed me a cleaned up, wrapped up, 5 lb, 4 oz, baby girl. I smiled down at her little face and Emily said "So who is her father? And what is her name?" I said "Her name is gonna be Roslyn Marie, as for her father... well..." Ian said, "I am her father but no one can know, neither one of us want my enemies to use her as a target to get to me." he placed a delicate kiss on her head then walked out. Em showed me my phone screen and it was a picture of me holding Rosie and Ian kissing her head, so you can't see his face.

(2 years and 5 months later)

Emily/Lauren was engaged to Ian, I was in the playroom with Declan and Rosie when Declan said "Lily, look!" I looked up and saw the cams to the garden and saw an evac squad to pick us up. I said, "Declan quickly grab your go bag." he went through the secret door to his room and I went to Rosie's room and grabbed her bag, then I went back to the playroom as Declan came from the tunnel. I grabbed each of their hands and held them close to me, Tsia came in and said "It's time to go." I nodded and pulled the children along to follow her as Easter followed behind me. Ian looked at me and said "Protect them!" as he was shoved into a car, Declan held his little sister close making sure she was between himself and me. I led them to the car Emily was in and held my baby in my lap as we drove off, Em hid Declan and Lousie in Pennsylvania and I moved to DC.

I crashed with my twin JJ until I bought my own house, the second day in DC JJ woke me up and said "Hey EJ, come with me there are some people I want you to meet." I said, "Alright, let me get me and Rosie dressed." JJ said "Actually can I get her dressed?" I motioned toward the toddler in my bed and got up to take a shower while JJ proceeded to wake her up. I dressed in black ripped jeans, a grey midriff button-up cami, a pink and black bomber jacket, and grey heeled mid calf boots. I blow-dried and brushed my blonde wavy hair before doing a waterfall braid, and did natural makeup. 

I packed the diaper bag as JJ dressed Rosie in camo pants, a black cold shoulder long sleeve shirt, black converse, and then brushed her hair and put it up in a bun. I said "Awe don't you look beautiful!" she giggled and said "Necklace?" I grabbed the jewelry box and pulled out a necklace that says 'Princess Roslyn' and hooked it around her neck. I finished the bag and grabbed my purse, JJ said "Ok let's go, and we are using my car as I bought a car seat for her when you told me you both were coming." 

I nodded and said "Ok but we need to stop at Duncan she needs breakfast and I need coffee." JJ laughed and nodded as I grabbed Roslyn's hand and we went to the garage, I buckled her in the car seat and set the diaper bag next to her before getting in the passenger seat. At Duncan I got Roslyn a wake-up wrap and a small raspberry tea, I got a red velvet iced latte and Bacon bagel sandwich, JJ got a hot chai latte and a wake-up wrap, I also ordered a box of glazed munchkins. 

We drove to an FBI building, I said "JJ why are we here?" we got out of the car and JJ grabbed my daughter before handing her to me and grabbing the diaper bag. She linked arms with me and as we walked inside she said: "Well I work here at the BAU and I wanted to introduce you to the team." I sighed and said "Alright. Roslyn look up." she looked into my eyes and I said "Ok this is a work building, so what does that mean?" she said, "Stay out of the way and shh." I said "Exactly and most important?" Rosie smiled and said, "Don't touch the guns." I nodded and we walked inside and got on the elevator. 

Rosie said "Ding!" as the elevator dinged and opened making JJ and I laugh. We walked into the bullpen and I followed her upstairs and knocked on an office door someone said "Come in." JJ led me in and said, "Hey Hotch I wanted you and the team to meet my twin sister Emalyn also called EJ and her daughter/my niece Roslyn, EJ, this is my team our leader agent Aaron Hotchner." Hotchner said, "Nice to meet you EJ." I said, "The pleasure is all mine, Agent Hotchner." JJ said "Actually I was wondering... if of course EJ you are down for it... If she could join the team? She came from Interpol and worked undercover to bring in terrorists." 

I said "Woah, hey JJ, I thought I was just meeting your friends?" she had her guilty look on her face and Agent Hotchner said "Actually I was gonna reach out to you after this case, our Section chief Erin Strauss wants you. So the job is yours if you want it." I said "Is there undercover work?" he said "No." I said, "Good ill take it." He said, "Can you start now?" I said "I don't have a nanny yet, and I'm a single mom," Hotchner said, "Until you get one you can bring her with us if she behaves well enough." I said "If your sure." he nodded and said, "Let's introduce you to the team and get started on our case." 

We followed behind him and I whispered "I can't believe you brought us to work, if he said no, how was I gonna get her home?" she laughed and shook her head saying "Obviously I would have given you my keys." Rosie whispered, "Are we going to your work auntie JJ?" JJ said "Yes and now mommy works with me." she nodded and laid her head on my shoulder and watched. JJ said, "Everyone this is my twin Emalyn we call her EJ, and EJ this is Dr. Spencer Reid, Agents Derek Morgan, Elle Greenaway, Jason Gideon, and tech analyst Penelope Garcia." I said "It's nice to meet you all, this is my daughter Roslyn, she is two and responds best to Rosie. Rosie say hi." she lifted her head to look at everyone and waved while saying "Hi people! Let's be friends!" then she giggled.
