Sakura had woken up in complete darkness, a typical start to a seemingly ordinary day. Her routine consisted of getting up, getting marched out, then zoning out for the remainder of the day until she was back in her room; the darkness surrounded her the entire time. It was strange to believe that she had forgotten what the sky looked like, or what anything looked like, for that matter. About once every 2 weeks, her eyes would finally open only to see white tile surrounding her. Once done, she'd put her makeshift clothes back on and would go back to feeling the oh-so-familiar sensation of the blindfold around her eyes. Black, tiles, black, tile, all repeating for 6 straight years.
The morning felt no different from any other, no brighter either. As she slowly woke up, her door opened with a sense of..urgency? Before she had time to question what was happening, someone whispered a faint "go," and her blindfold was ripped off. Just as sudden as it happened, Sakura ran. She ran as far as she could before anyone could stop her.
She reached a long hallway, two paths to chose from. Muscle memory reminded her of what awaited to the left; only pain would be there, only he would be there. In the blink of an eye, she turned to the right and was at the end of the hallway. When she reached the next hallway, she chose right and blinked, immediately arriving at the other side. After running and repeating this for what felt like days (looking back on it, it was probably three minutes), she noticed some stairs leading upwards. Some of his friends were already catching up; she needed to be quicker, she needed to leave. The stairs were so close, practically within her grasp.
One more step.
One more jump.
Sakura ran up the stairs and kicked through the reinforced door (clearly put there to stop her, oopsies). Once she opened her eyes, the men behind her realized it was over.
The sky was right there.
More importantly, there was land and light. The faint sound of the man saying "go" repeated in her brain, so she decided to listen.
--*--
Running takes up a lot of stamina and is useless to someone with a faster speed quirk than her. Flying could quickly become ineffective if someone had any kind of capture quirk, plus it would allow her to stand out more than needed. So, she blinked. And blinked. And blinked, each time moving farther away from wherever she was. The area was right by the city but would still be about a 7-minute walk away (4 if she was running, an estimated guess from experience). By teleporting, she could get there almost in an instant. Although the quirk was the reason for her sudden blindfolding, she was grateful for it at a time like this.
Once she had gotten a little deeper into the city, she had resorted to just running past people. There wasn't an exact destination in mind, only the word "go," just the idea to be anywhere but there.
What if they catch me again? I'm still not far enough away, am I? I need to leave the country, maybe I could go to space. I think they liked space. Could I breathe in space? I'm not sure if my quirk allows me to do that...
So consumed by her thoughts, she hadn't even realized the man in front of her until it was too late. She rammed straight into him, causing him to be pushed back and her to entirely fall over. "Hey, watch where you're-" he didn't even have time to finish. She promptly sat up and starting to run around him.
"HEY!"
A rope? No, that couldn't be it. Whatever it was was super strong and grabbed onto her arm, immobilizing her. As much as she fought at it, it wouldn't move off her arm.
"Do you mind telling me what you were running from and why you so rudely had to bump into me?" The man grumbled.
He looked to be more tired than she was, and was looking down at her... questioningly?.] She stared at him, fear in her eyes, mostly pleading him to let her go, slightly begging him not to ask questions.
"Kid?"
