Well, I think this is more effective than saying it on my announcement board.

"I'm really sorry guys for not updating any of my stories. It's because I'm doing my research work. I'm a PhD student and I'm trying my best to finish my thesis work. I can't update any of my stories until I finish my PhD. I'm extremely sorry for that. I apologize."
