TW: ABUSE/ALCOHOLISM

As Cameron Markey walked down the stairs of her home, she heard the television blasting at an abnormally loud volume.

At the bottom, she saw the sight of her dad slumped on the couch with bottles of beer surrounding him.

Cam sighed. "Dad, you have to stop doing this." She said softly as she picked up the mess around him.

"You don't get to tell me what to do, I'm the adult here." His words were terribly slurred. He was in no way sober.

Over the years, she learned how to ignore him when he was in this state. It wasn't the first nor the second time this had happened. Shit, probably not even the 100th.

She trudged into the kitchen and poured out any remaining alcohol that was in the bottles before throwing them into the waste bin.

"Cam, bring me another bottle." Her dad shouted.

"No, you've had enough." She tried to stay as calm as possible as she headed towards the stairs.

"Get back in the kitchen and get me another one, god dammit!" His loud voice made Cam flinch.

She shook it off as she headed up the stairs. Angry grunts came from the couch. After entering her room, she slammed the door. She couldn't help but to be angry.

Why can't he just be sober for one fucking minute? Why does he have to be such an idiot? She thought to herself as she collapsed onto her bed.

Suddenly, she shot back up as she heard loud footsteps coming up the stairs. The echo of the stairwell made it louder.

Her heart sank as she realized what was about to happen. She slammed the door and her dad didn't like that- especially when he was drunk.

Cam went into a state of panic, not knowing what to do. She made the split second decision to hide in her closet. She swung the doors open and closed them right in time.

Her bedroom door opened and in walked her father.

"WHERE ARE YOU!" He boomed.

She cowered into the corner of the closet, hoping for it to stop. Hoping for time to stop.

A few seconds went by and the footsteps were no longer.

She had thought that her dad was gone. She let out a sharp breath of relief before reaching towards the door but all of a sudden, they swung open by themself, revealing her father.

He was seething with anger. She was trembling with fear.

With no words, he grabbed her by the collar of her shirt and dragged her down the stairs. She would've fought back but she was scared of the consequences.

As they got to the bottom of the steps, she was shoved into the kitchen.

"How dare you talk to me like that and then slam your door! Who do you think you are?" He screamed in her face, making her cringe at the smell of beer in his breath.
